According to lore, when Nikita Khrushchev was succeeded by Leonid Brezhnev to lead the Soviet Union, Khrushchev imparted Brezhnev with the following wisdom, handing Brezhnev two letters, each in sealed envelopes, and telling him, "when you get into trouble, open the first letter."
Inevitably trouble came upon Brezhnev, so, upon opening the first letter, he read the words, "Blame it all on me. When trouble comes again, open the second letter."
And so thusly, the also inevitable day came for Brezhnev to open the second letter. The letter simply read "Write two letters."
As we learned yesterday, as is tradition, the new President read a letter that the outgoing President had left for him - of course, we don't know what Obama said to Trump.
A couple days ago, The National Archives did release the letter that Clinton had left to GW Bush, and the letter GW Bush to Obama.
