Game 90 Tigers vs. blue jays July 16 2017

Almost looked like Upton just got pitched around so they could face Miggy....

They go from walking dead friday night the whole f'n game to ripping the ball all over the park including Bombs Saturday,
to late today into extras, chasing pitchers pitches trying to hit a 5 run homer.

a break with donaldson muffing an easy grounder, winning run 90 feet away,

Upton taking low all the way 3 and 0, walks bases loaded for Miggy,

Let's go Miggy!!!!

Now takes a curve inside corner, takes the slide piece he chased last at bat, nearly a wild pitch, up and in nearly hit him 3 and 1, right down the middle full count, here comes the slider away, fastball fouled back, walk off walk
and Tigers win 6 - 5,

they are being careful rubbing Miggy's back,

another RBI for the Beast. that's 2 today, and just 1 behind Nap Lajoie with 1599,

Amazing this team is only 6.5 games out of first in the central and Cleveland is losing again.

Amazing this team is only 6.5 games out of first in the central and Cleveland is losing again.

With two consecutive wins the Tigers odds of making the postseason has doubled from 4% to 8% according to the 538 statistical website.

Woo hoo!

JD Martinez, one of the top bats on the market approaching the trade deadline, drove in two more on Saturday, including the game-tying home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Martinez finished the day 1 for 2 with two walks and a stolen base before being replaced by Mikie Mahtook as a pinch runner in the 10th inning.

Detroit's bullpen pitched five scoreless innings, The Tigers bullpen was beyond excellent. Daniel Stumpf, Alex Wilson, Bruce Rondon, and Justin Wilson, put away the Jays during the next five innings, zero runs, with the Jays collecting a lone single.
Warwick Saupold (2-1) got the win with a scoreless 11th.

Miguel Cabrera walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th to give the Tigers a 6-5 victory and series win over Toronto at Comerica Park.

Anibal Sanchez, making his fifth start since being moved into the rotation, allowed three home runs, including a two-run shot to Jose Bautista in the top of the fifth inning that gave the Blue Jays a 5-4 lead.
Anibal Sanchez allowed three home runs Sunday after giving up just one in his first four starts this season (24 innings).
He pitched six innings Sunday, allowing five runs on nine hits and striking out three.

Miguel Cabrera's sacrifice fly in the first inning moved him ahead of Hall of Famer George Brett for 37th all-time in RBIs (1,597). He is two away from tying Nap Lajoie for 36th all time.

Justin Wilson pitched a one-two-three ninth inning. He has allowed zero runs and three hits in his past eight innings.

Detroit has won its last three series against Toronto at Comerica Park. It is 6-3 against the Blue Jays during that span.

The Tigers cobbled together their winning run in the 11th inning, minus a hit, when Miguel Cabrera got a walk-off RBI on a two-out, 3-2 pitch from Lucas Harrell that was wide of home plate. It was part of a three-walk inning, helped by Josh Donaldson?s error at third.

Roars
J.D. Martinez ? Cut, paste. Dinger.

Miguel Cabrera ? Game-winning good eye.

Hisses
Anibal Sanchez ? Tagged for five runs on nine hits, but he did go six innings, so at least that?s something?

Stats and stuff
The Tigers took nine walks. Three were in the 11th inning.

Next up:
The Tigers begin a four-game series in Kansas City on Monday night. Jordan Zimmermann (5-7, 5.87) is scheduled to start for Detroit, while Kansas City will counter with American League wins leader Jason Vargas (12-3, 2.62).

Sell already before they give pause and think they have a chance.

Post game;
Tigers to start Matthew Boyd on Tuesday, send Daniel Norris on rehab assignment in Toledo.

If you put these two pitchers together you would wind up with a #3 or 4 starter. As of now, Boyd is a AAAA pitcher,
and Beavis gets too amped up half the two and rushes his delivery losing control and command.
