JD traded to the Diamondbacks....

I know nothing about the 3 prospects so I'll keep my trap shut. Arizona could sure use JD with their recent struggles.. At least I get to watch him.

The haul just feels light to me. Hopefully it will work out. Not sure why it was done so soon ? Maybe AA's inexperience. I really thought we would get more for JD. I have no clue if these kids are any good but I like the sound of trying to resign JD. The team needs a totally restructuring from top to bottom. We need to revamp the scouting and total baseball philosophy all the way around.

We aren't out of it yet haha , imagine making a big run and trading big chips ?! Could we tiger fans ever get so lucky ? Guys like Mahtook , Aducci and Boyd lead us to the promise land !!

Alcantara is probably going to be a better major leaguer than Lugo. Lugo absolutely cannot take a walk. Wait...just the right player for this team ideology. Swing first....then strikeout.

Oh geesh say that ain't so, like we need more of that hack approach

You know what's crazy is listening to JD's reaction to the trade and making mention Detroit is his home and always will be I wouldn't rule out him making a return at a hometown discount.

Although I personally believe they would have to be able to move Upton's contract beforehand but you never know. Don't think I have ever seen a player as visably upset as JD was today.

Could happen after all we got Razor Ramon back after the Guillen trade.

Feels light but at least Avila is trying to build something. JD is a rental. We weren't getting #1 prospects for him. I don't care how good his bat is. Lugo is the real deal for fun. Alcantara is a prospect and King is a baby. We won't know for a few yrs on him anyways. Learn the business and you'll understand why he made the trade...

Just to put into perspective Lugo was traded 2 years ago by Toronto for Cliff Pennington!!!! Now 2 years later he is the center piece that obtained JD? Lol.

Oh yeah let's also not forget the Dodgers offer in the off-season of Bellinger for JD/Kinsler that Kinsler wouldn't accept because of the wanted extension.

I don't remember that trade offer. Too bad. Kinsler should have accepted...he would could have been on a WS contender vs a shitty team.

Does anyone have any confidence in the front office that is presently deconstructing this ball club has the wherewithall (sic) to build it back up? Not me. If the Tigers are going to turn into the Minnesota Twins the A's of the early 2000s after all the big contracts are gone, I will not appreciate that, especially since Avila and Co would not even be able to develop "our guys" players as well as the Twins and As did. So, we are stuck with an inexpensive team going nowhere.

None.

This is why letting DD go was an absolute joke.

If the Tigers weren't going to try to sign JD before he hit FA, dunno why he would be upset at all about whether he was traded midseason, since he will inevitably be leaving via FA off-season anyway. I don't see this franchise being any better than mediocre in a mediocre division anyway, for the remainder of this decade. Might as well fire sale, and get rid of their FO, some scouts, the manager and coaching staff, and concentrate mainly on rebuilding their long moribund farm system.

This area is a mid-market supporting economy @ best, and their payroll needs to reflect that.

I have ZERO confidence in Avila and co. Hopefully they will all be fired before too long. This team is going to be terrible in the near future if Avila and Co. are left in charge. Mr. I screwed up BIG TIME not allowing DD to complete the re-build 2 years ago.

Detroit Tigers trade J.D. Martinez to Arizona Diamondbacks for modest return.
DJC

Al Avila is an incompetent G.M.
Look at the players Dave Dombrowski got for trading Cespedes and Price.
Avila could have also waited out with 12/13 days left in the trade deadline another team comes in with a better package.
This team has a bad front office, terrible scouts hyping prospects in the 40/45 range of the 20/80 scale.
Case in point re: scouts, who was the scout who said to give Pelfrey 2 years.
With a supposed leap into sabermetrics, called Caesar, why would the Tigers take players with bad obp?

All 3 have one thing in common, no WS title in a long time. I'm sure those 2 don't want to be us, big payroll and no title. I would like a smaller payroll. What would be the point of trading JD if that's not the thought? He was our best player and one of the younger ones.
