Lowes era goes down to 10.29 from 10.33 after only giving up one run in the 8th

July 8th....ten twenty f'n nine! Good gAwwd tigers why is he still up here!

Mike Pelfrey ? He gave up six hits and three walks, but thanks to three double plays only one run scored. That?s his second consecutive start of allowing one run.

The Tigers offense -- They loaded the bases for Mike Aviles, but no one really took that seriously. Otherwise there wasn?t a lot to be excited about.

The bullpen -- Kyle Ryan gave up a single, double and a walk while recording just one out.
Bobby Parnell gave up a three-run home run that may not have landed. And a 1-0 deficit turned into an insurmountable 5-0 one. Editor?s note: It landed. 446 feet.

Stats and Info.
Mike Pelfrey induced his 20th double play of the season. Also his 19th and 21st.

Tigers have named their weekend starters.

It will be Matt Boyd taking the mound on Saturday and Anibal Sanchez for the series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. Doom and Gloom.

Asked how he settled on those two, manager Brad Ausmus admitted he did not have an abundance of options: "We need them to pitch well."

Parnell will now be sent down again for whomever turn it is to come back up again from the collective group of who cares and pfsst's on the farm

Matt Boyd called up, Bobby Parnell sent down. Boyd will start Saturday, Anibal Sanchez on Sunday.
