Game 137: Tigers @ Cleveland Sep 1st

Haha I couldn't find those Upton pics but I stopped looking when I heard it was her back covered in JV seed! I wanted to see how J-Law was lookin but I think the lawyers successfully erased all the pics from the internet. Didn't think that was possible

Seriously one bad start and Price gets slammed? He had a one-hit complete game the start before that. Good lord.

Seriously, it's ridiculous.

Smyly is better than Price?

LMFAO.

He's had one good game and looked terrible to average in every other start. His ERA is just south of 5 as a Tiger down there with JV. He's labored through his ok starts allowing tons of base runners and having to navigate through traffic all game. Smyly has already had a CG followed by two 7 inning 2-hit games. Domination! As of now Smyly is the better pitcher and improving with every start while Price is wilting under pressure. Tampa is terrible by the way so not surprising he hit one hit that scrub filled lineup

Besides his Tampa start Price also went 8 innings and gave up 1 run vs Seattle. He was awful in one start against NYY, and did fine in the other. He didn't do great against Toronto, but has looked pretty good here today against Cleveland. All of this is besides the point. You're taking 4 or 5 starts and using them to conclude Smyly is better than Price. Seems like a reach at best. Why are you ignoring the rest of their careers?

Smyly was a 4 ERA starter for the Tigers.

but yeah lets ignore that and just go off a small handful of starts.

smh.

It doesn't matter how great he was four years ago. We gave up our best young pitcher and starting CF to get an ace like pitcher instead we got an average looking 3-4 starter at best. Then you look at his atrocious post season track record and you can be sure he is gonna shit the bed when we need him most. Say what you want about Smyly but he does not choke in big situations and he was huge for us in the post season last year. His composure is one of his best attributes. So we gave up a guy who costs a half million bucks for a guy who is costing almost 20 million and he isn't even as good as the cheap guy when he's supposed to be CY Young and at least winning games for us. So far the trade doesn't look good and you can't argue that we'd have a better record with the kid pitching

You are assuming Smyly would have thrown those same gems if he was still with us. You can't do that. We wouldn't have been pitching against those teams.

Please stop...you're making yourself look silly. Lots of players struggle early on in their careers in the playoffs. Verlander had crappy postseason stats when he first pitched there as well. Did he turn into a dud? Let's wait and see how Price does before we declare him junk. Jeez.

Smyly was HUGE for us in the postseason last year? Again this is a reach. What did he do that was so huge? He pitched 3 innings and gave up 1 ER. Ok I guess that's decent? Relievers are not worth what starters are.

Price isn't supposed to be a Cy Young winner, he is one. He WON THE CY YOUNG. He's proven how good he is. Smyly may get there, but he's not yet. One month of great starts doesn't mean anything except a nice trend for Drew. I hope he continues to do well as I always liked him here. Everything else you posted is just pure speculation and doesn't mean anything. You have no idea how Drew would have pitched if he had remained here. You can't use his stats from Tampa to make that point.

Miggy greets the new kid to the majors with another home run. 4 hit day with 2 homers. Nice to see. Now stay hot Miggy.
