How can the Tigers improve the bullpen?

Tigers - 8th in runs, 2nd in BA, 4th in OBP, 3rd in SLG.

Tigers - 3rd in starter ERA, 3rd in starter BAA, 3rd in wins (1st in win%)

Tigers - 28th in relief ERA, 26th in BAA, 29th in relief innings pitched

We've done well in limiting how much the relievers actually impact the game, but it's an obvious issue that we can't rely on ANYONE in the bullpen to really hold the line. We are going to be a very good team regardless, but there has to be a way to shore up this glaring issue. What realistic options do the Tigers have to make an upgrade?

The BP had a 2.50 ERA during the win streak. It would be nice to have some better arms down there but we're a couple months away from anyone trading one of quality.

Who do you want gone the most (choosing Coke doesn't count)?

I think Knebel needs to be in Detroit sooner rather than later. Mercedes should get some innings also. I'm just not sure who they would replace. LuPu is coming back (all rejoice...)

The Tigers weren't scoring runs today, they could have locked down after Smyly and this game was gonna be a loss.

So far, we've been able to rely on Nathan and Joba to hold the line.

As long as Nathan stays healthy, he's a safe bet to be a reliable pitcher for the rest of the year.

Joba's not as much of a guarantee, but he has the potential to.

Until today you must have not watched the Bullpen the last 10 days......they turned it around for the better.

This morning we credit the BP for a fine job getting the win last night, right?

Miller and Nathan did EXACTLY what you need to happen to have a chance to win that game. Go into the ninth down 3-0 and the psyche is different.

Bullpen has improved since the start of the season.. Joel Hanrahan will be key right?

Get rid of Coke and bring up one of the better lefties for AAA.

Fixed.

(Addition by subtraction. Just get rid of Coke. Hell, add a fast tight end with good hands for all I care. Just get rid of Coke.)

I heard Tracy McGrady can pitch but he is more of the small forward type.

I said in ST that Knebel should have went north with Detroit. He's a future closer type and has dominated the minors so far, as he did in college. His fastball and breaking ball are no joke. 2ER in 18 innings this year with 27 strikeouts. Last year, he only gave up 3 ER in 31 innings.

Only 3 of those innings this season were at Toledo and all of his innings last season were single A. The kid looks to be the real deal, but he needs some more time before being brought up. If things keep going well, he'll be brought up at some point this season, but there's no need to do it in May.
