Game 11: Detroit @ Cleveland; April 15, 2017

Well if we go on to lose this game. It will be the 3rd time in our 4 losses that we scored at least 5.

This was Verlander's 355th career start, first time he's allowed 9 earned runs. New career-high.
Final line on Verlander: 4+ IP, 11 H, 9 R, 9 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 3 HR. 85 pitches.
He is NFG in cleveland.

Can we leave Sanchez in cleveland.

So far with Tigers dumpster fire bullpen, 14 of 21 inherited runners have scored.

This was one bad pitched game. Not sure I ever saw JV give up 9 runs. And Sanchez still sucks. If there was even a small chance to catch up, he blew it.

Guarantee that won't happen.

The two easiest decisions to make in all of MLB and Detroit got them BOTH wrong.

1. Cut Anibal

2. Bring up Jimenez and use him in late innings(7th/8th).

I don't care about the money, both those moves make this team better.

The nine runs were the most earned runs allowed by Verlander in 355 career starts. It stopped a 20-start streak where he allowed three runs or less – dating back to June 26 last year when these same Indians scored eight runs and hit four homers off him in 4.2 innings.
Verlander saw his season ERA soar to 5.71 from 1.35 in a span of four innings.
Over the 2014-16 seasons, Verlander went 2-7 with a 4.74 ERA against Cleveland, while going 34-22 with a 3.49 ERA against all other opponents.

Roars:
The offense: Scoring six runs in today’s game is no small feat. To do so against Corey Kluber and still not win is a crime.

Terry Francona: I’m not sure why Francona made Andrew Miller go back out for the eighth inning against the bottom of the Tigers order, but after 27 pitches he is not likely to be available for Sunday’s series finale.

Hisses:
Justin Verlander: His problems at Progressive Field once again reared their ugly head. Verlander put the Tigers in a 5-0 hole before they even cycled through their batting order. He only recorded 12 outs on 85 pitches.

Shane Greene: He was put into the game in a tough spot, entering with two on and no out. While he did not give up an earned run of his own, allowing those two inherited runners to score after the Tigers had cut the deficit was backbreaking.

Anibal Sanchez: There’s not much else to say at this point.

Stats and reactions:
Justin Verlander allowed nine earned runs, the highest total of his career. He had previously allowed eight earned runs in five different games.
Verlander’s ERA rose from 1.35 to 5.71 after Saturday’s game.

Anibal Sanchez has pitched nine innings this season. He has allowed 15 runs.

You might not care about money but the GM, and owner, certainly do. You don't usually see a guy making 18m just released.
