third HR by JD since the break (giving him 16 on the season), but he'd been hitting .193 post-break, and struck out 24x.

That was J.D. Martinez's first home run since Aug. 2, and only his third since July 13.

Sorry to keep bringing it up, but why the heck would you not tell Avila to try and bunt there? Defense is giving you all the room you need, Liriano is dealing, and Avila can't hit lefties anyway. Don't get it.

I recall seeing Avila attempting to bunt a couple seasons ago, and he was pretty much unable to execute it.
