Orioles @ Tigers 7-19-15 Game #91

They are just not that good and they certainly don't have the pitching to go on any type of a winning streak where they win 8 out of 10 games, etc. We really needed JV to build off of that last performance and instead he shit the bed after the Tigers tied the game up for him.

This team is not fun to watch most of the time this year, they need to put it out of its misery...repenlish the farm ASAP no more further waiting to see if they come around is needed the final answer is no they aren't truning it around

STREAKS AND STATS:

Justin Verlander is one of four Tigers pitchers to give up seven-or-more runs in a game this season. The others? Anibal Sanchez, Shane Greene, and Alfredo Simon.

Iglesias' four-hit day was just the second of his career, his last being on April 8 against the Twins.

The Tigers dropped below the .500 mark for the first time this season. It's the first time they've been below .500 in the second half since Oct. 2, 2010.

Can't wait for the JV press conference. I'm so close. 6-1.

"I was booing myself when I left the mound," Verlander said. "I don't think there's any doubt I am doing everything I can possibly do. It's just one inning here, one inning there. In most starts, it's just one inning where I run into trouble and can't find my way out of it."

Verlander said he simply needs to not work so quickly out of the stretch. That's where he ran into trouble Sunday and in a similar start earlier this month against the Toronto Blue Jays. He called the solution "a simple fix."

"We need to play better, consistent baseball," Verlander said. "We have to get better starting pitching. I need to do a better job. A lot of guys need to do a better job, just as far as consistency. And it starts with looking in the mirror, myself. I've got to be more consistent. The last was start, it was like, 'OK, that's it, let's keep it going.' And I kind of reverted back a little bit in that fourth inning."

The Tigers are currently only 1 game away from 4th place in the Central.

It's over folks, they are baked, kaput, rolled over. done

NEVER GIVE UP!!!!! We are just a 10 game winning streak from the top spot in the wildcard race!!!!!

Wait
SELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JV might be the most consistent starter they have. He has been terrible in most of his starts!

Since May 16th (over 2 months), they have the worst record in the AL by 2 games.

DET 22-32 .407 WPCT
BOS 24-30 .444 WPCT

The last time they won 4 games in a row is when they opened the season 6-0. Since starting 11-2, they have lost 4 games in a row twice, with the longest being 8 games.

Certainly pitching, both starting and relief has been the culprit. Inconsistent offense hasn't helped, but it certainly comes down to pitching.

wow...outside of Price and Sanchez the starters have been TERRIBLE!!

Yup...and IMHO Simon has been far worse than Verlander, but no one is screaming about that. Maybe it has to do with the salary aspect.

Maybe a little to do with the salary aspect but mostly because at times Simon has contributed to this team in a positive manner over the course of the season. He was better than I expected his first 12 starts.

Yet, Simon isn't coming off an injury.

Through 16 May,

Shane Greene (4-2) = 8 GS (4 Quality), only 3 he gave up more than 1 run

Alfredo Simon (4-1) = 7 GS (4 Quality), only 3 he gave up more than 1 run

So shouldn't you be giving Shane Greene props for his great start as well?

Sure...Green had a good start to the season as well. I consider 6 of his first 9 games successful. Over part of the season he has contributed in a positive manner.

I think it's a very real possibility the tigers will end up finishing last in the DIV now
