Sunday nights game was Tarik Skubal’s 7th career game with 10+ strikeouts and no walks. That breaks a tie with Justin Verlander for the most in Tigers history.

Tarik Skubal has the highest strikeouts per nine innings and lowest walks per nine innings in MLB this season. No pitcher has finished a season leading qualified pitchers in both.

Players since 1901 to have 160+ strikeouts, 20 or fewer walks allowed & a sub-2.20 ERA through 20 games of a season:
2025 Tarik Skubal
2014 Clayton Kershaw

Most outings with 10+ strikeouts, 1 or 0 runs & no walks in a season, at least last 125 seasons:
2025 Tarik Skubal: 5
2021 Corbin Burnes: 5
2021 Gerrit Cole: 5
2015 Clayton Kershaw: 5

150+ strikeouts and fewer than 20 walks in first 20 starts of season, last 125 seasons: 2025 Tarik Skubal (164, 16 BB)
2016 Clayton Kershaw (168, 10)
2015 Max Scherzer (166, 16)
2014 Clayton Kershaw (174, 19)
2002 Curt Schilling (191, 15)

Tigers get promising injury update on Javy Báez following removal from Sunday’s game.
MCBTB

Over the last 30 days – while playing through the injury, as it's now known – Báez has struggled through the worst stretch of the season. In 17 games during that span, he has slashed .196/.237/.304.
On the season as a whole, Báez's slash line is still an impressive .274/.308/.438 with 10 home runs and 39 RBI in 81 games.

Detroit Tigers are MLB's first 60-win team this season. That doesn't guarantee anything.

Each team's prospect to watch in the second half.

Riley Greene is such a solid player, that even in his off months, he’ll produce. This July, the Tigers’ OF is worst in K-rate (41%), yet he’s STILL collected 0.2 fWAR, 6 HR, 105 wRC+.

Detroit Tigers Prospects 2025: Troy Melton Career-High 10 Strikeouts. 6 minutes.
The full outing from Detroit Tigers pitching prospect Troy Melton for the Toledo Mud Hens on June 24th. Melton threw 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits and 1 walk, while striking out a career-high 10. Melton could be a call up to the Tigers by September when the rosters expand if not sooner.

Tiger hitters still in a funk. Scenes will have a field day if they don't wake up !

Jack already at 50 + pitches and the 2nd inning is not over yet.
Nothing is ever clean for Jack it seems.
Remember Pittsburgh is a shitty team and 1-11 last 12 games.
So some teams are beating Skenes.

****ing dumbass 0-2 pitch right down the middle and he trails
1-0. Two freaking 0-2 count hits this inning. Awful dumb.
I can’t stand watching Jack pitch.
He will get behind like he always does them rattle off 5 or 6
Strikeouts in a row.

Hey Jack > Pittsburgh is 39-61 ! Averaging only 2.1 run a game
They last 12 games. They Have 3 runs on. 0-2 and 1-2 count pitches.
He just stinks. Just stupid ****off Jack !

Jack just pisses me off. I can see 1 hit on a 0-2 count or 1-2 count.
But not three in the inning. That is just lack of concentration.
Such poor pitching

Another great at bat by Sweeney. Hacks away and fails to move the runners over with zero outs. Just have him bunt. He can’t get a hit anymore. .

****ing get first 2 runners on and next two batters do Jack shit.
Fc by Keith. First and third two outs.

Just think if you have Sweeney sacrifice runners over you have a run. Such a different inning. Maybe play small ball early the game against a tough pitcher.

Screw it Sweeney probably can’t bunt anyways.
Plus analytics would rather have a shallow pop out to RF.
So dumb.

Jack the clown show has a clean 3rd inning.
By clean I mean 0 runs against Pittsburgh.

Hinch doesn't believe in bunting, foolish. This is getting old. The Tigers are playing at a very low level right now. The lowly White Sox swept these Pirates and Detroit/Flahrety are not going to beat this team tonight, so whatever that says about our team. Can't get the "key hit" as Hinch puts it. Disappointing waiting for the early season magic to start happening and I can't see it happening.

Yeah sadly I know analytics say bunting is bad. But if you can’t hit .And we all know Sweeny cant hit. Such an unproductive at bat.

Meadows strands 2 . Lob’s at 4 again through four tiger innings.
He k’s like they all do. Either high heat out of the zone or a slow off speed pitch out of the zone.
Torres K’d on an inside strike that was a tough pitch.

Another turd outing by Jack. 3 innings against a team that has scored 23 runs the last 12 games going 1-11. Giving up three hits in an inning on counts (0-2) (0-2) and (1-2) to give up the three runs.
Also getting beat three in a row by the white Sox.

I was hoping Jack could at least handle Pittsburgh.
My bad Jack you are in fact not worth your contract.

They need to go dumpster diving for a SS if they aren't going to try Mckinstry there. The rest of the lineup is not doing enough to have an auto out in the lineup. Appreciate what he did last year but this "slump" is almost 100 at bats long.

Flaherty is not himself this year. Missing his spots over and over.
