Game #139: New York Mets @ Detroit Tigers, Monday September 1st, 2025, 1:10 Pm

Boxscore. Tigers 2 for 14 with RISP. Fcuk!

Video highlights.

Mets 10 - Tigers 8: Slugfest in Motown.
Runs were coming fast-and-furious as the Tigers dropped the opener of the series. Also, Juan Soto is good at baseball.
BYBTB

Juan Soto takes advantage of bad pitching in Detroit Tigers' 10-8 loss to New York Mets.
Freep

Juan Soto’s grand slam, triple power Mets past Tigers.

I wonder when someone will ask AJ about risp in the postgame interview. I only saw the clip in the MLB app videos

This sucks. Too many trick or treat pitchers in the rotation after Skubal. I wonder if they will win 90 games with the starting pitching and the bullpen, after Melton, Finnegan, and Vest. 😠 😡
they will easily win 90, but I don't see them making a deep playoff run. Harris' trade deadline additions (outside of Finnigan) have been a flop. Adding too many mediocre players may have actually made them worse. This "pitching chaos" of relievers between AAA and the big league team has been a disaster so far.

Minor League Standings.
————————————2nd Half……………...overall…….GB
AAA….Toledo Mudhens…..(35-22) up 2………(74-58)….-1.5…
AA……..Erie Seawolves……..(30-27) -3……………(75-51)…..+3.5 (Division)
HA…….WM Whitecaps…….(43-17) up 7………..(87-38)…+16.5(Division)
LA……..L. Flying Tigers…….(33-25) up 2.5…….(71-51)…..+5.5 (Division)

Seawolves, whitecaps , and Flying Tigers all won first half, and have already clinched playoffs spots.
Each have about 15-18 games left .

Toledo needs to hold on to 2nd half lead to make the playoffs.
Not sure what happens when you win both halves of a season
Im your division ?

Toledo has 18 games left in regular season.

Erie has 12 games left and playoffs start on 9/16/25.:
Best of three.

West Michigan and Lakeland each have 6 games left.
Both playoffs start 9/9/25 and are best of three.

Being in possession of a lot of mediocre pieces doesn't necessarily add up to a few of them rising to the top, or managing to cover for each other, unfortunately. The process also undermines the team settling into its final form for the postseason. Combine the potential return of Meadows and/or Vierling, with the potential "spring training" problems repeated, and I can see the postseason tanking very quickly.

I'm not sure about them "easily" winning 90, but they probably will. If they slump a bit, and finish out the season with a 9-14 record, they will only finish with 89 wins. The thing is, for KC to knock us out of first place, they would have to go 20-5 to finish the season, and the chances of those two things both happening is incredibly small. The best preparation would be to get all of our pieces sorted out by the end of the season, have everyone rested and ready to go, and hope that we still snag one of the top two records to get a bye to help with those things. After that, hope for luck.

I pisses me off to no end that AJ didnt manage to win this game.
The Mets have two decent pitchers going the next two games and we have Gibson-Long and Struggling Casey Mize.

Sommers should not have come out for the 6th. Now Melton has been wasted this series when we were behind 9-6. I sure do hope we can win the next two. Melton should have started the 6th.
