So Tiger's pitching has given up 22 runs in the first two games. It is all about pitching and it is obvious pitching is the Tiger's achilles heel. I don't see any help on the horizon and it is my opinion that the current state of the Tiger's pitching staff will not allow success in the play offs. Skubal is the only consistent starting pitcher. The rest of the starters are a 50/50 possibility at best. The bullpen has 3-4 adequate pitchers but most likely will not be able to carry poor performances from the starters. The Tigers have some position players that are just not helping much at all. Sweeney is very weak. I love the athleticism of Javy Baez, but his recognition of the strike zone is the worst in all of MLB. The last at bat I remember seeing, at a critical point was abysmal. He took two pitches right down the middle of the plate and swung at the next one that was over his head. The opposition is so aware of this that the catcher's just set up a foot outside knowing that Baez will swing at the unhittable pitches. I would love to see the Tiger's go all the way to the WS this year, but they needed to make a couple key acquisitions at the trade deadline to enhance that possibility, but that wasn't done.

I find it so frustrating that Harris didnt go for it at the trade deadline and try and win a World Series. What’s maddening is he could have kept most of his top prospects and still make some decent deals.

Oh we all agree, expectations for this team doing much in the post season is very low. Lettuce hope Mize has his poop in a group today else this is an easy sweep for the Mets. At this point I’ll say we limp into the Div title with 88-90 wins then exit stage left in the first post season series.

So shocking Cleveland swept this team when the Mets were going through a 2-14 stretch. (July 28th to August 15) Mets record was
64-58 after that date, and right before this series Miami took 3 of 4 from the Mets in NY. Baseball is so strange.

That was a nice bunt by a power hitter.
Nice pick off !
Darn it 1-2 count single to another power hitter.
Casey clean 1st inning !

The Mets are very annoying with their dumb ass base stealing style, thank you for the free out though.

Kerry isn't seeing the baseball well for a while now. And Riley expands the zone, with the usual results.

Kerry has really struggled risp this year like Lot of the guys.
Carpenter and Greene back to back lefty’s look awful with a base runner on 2nd.

Hinch confronts Tigers' most pressing question, says Melton could be playoff starter.
97.1 The Ticket

As for Reese Olson returning by October: "I don’t think it’s probable right now, early in any possibility like that. To think that he’s going to be ready by the end of the season, I think that’s asking too much given that he’s not playing catch yet."

If you are asking how Parker Meadows looks so far..well..he has struck out 5 times in the last two days..has one hit and one walk.

The Casey Mize issues are simple.
good split=good Casey.
no split= July/Aug Casey.

Check in on the Tigers deadline additions to the rotation:
Paddack: 31.1 IP | 6.89 ERA | 1.40 WHIP | 4.31 K/9
Morton: 31.0 IP | 5.81 ERA | 1.35 WHIP | 11.32 K/9

Detroit has lost 7 of their last 9 and are just 21-22 since the All Star break. They’ll win the division, but how far will they go once the playoffs begin?

Keider Montero is up, Chris Paddack is on the bereavement list.

Why can other teams lay off crap pitches but we can’t ?
(Carpenter and Greene swinging at balls)

Mize. 98 mph.,
Nice ! Fastballs !

poor base running, sorry. Tork is too slow to pull that off, especially when he makes the decision late.

What a dumb tag by Tork. He just isn’t fast enough.
Would should have the bases loaded 1 out.

Don’t worry we have (.200) hitter,Jake coming up.
He is due !

Mets announcers are willfully blind; they are saying that it is hard to tell if Baez hit the glove, when it was clear as day.

Does it seem like the next guy up after we get someone throw out at a base always gets a hit. Beaz dude just stop already pitch wasn’t even in this time zone! Gawd this team is annoying
