LHP Brant Hurter, currently on the minor-league IL with back soreness, is throwing a bullpen session today or tomorrow, A.J. Hinch said. He's only been sidelined for a couple of weeks, so the Tigers hope to get him up and running quickly.
Before this game; Javy Báez has started only three of the Tigers' past eight games. He's in a 5-for-33 skid at the plate with 12 strikeouts.

A single would suffice right now
Probably just being safe, with the third time through the batting order.
His job was to get the lead off lefty out, he failed.
His ops is actually lower the 3rd time through the order vs the 2nd time.
