Game #26: Brewers @ Detroit Tigers, Thursday April 23th, 1:10 PM

Tigers 9th
Vierling K’s (on a pitch a foot outside)
Torkelson Kaboom ! Tigers win
Perez

Tigers win 5-4.

I had a feeling when he got to three and 1 he would get a good pitch
Hit !

Torkelson wins the game !
His first career walkoff homer !
(14-12) is better then (13-13) especially after losing the firstm
Game of the series after that bad game in Boston.

So glad for him.

So Greene and Tork hit home runs in the same game again. This is good that Tork is starting to hit, and a walk-off at that. We never know if it is the cold weather, or a nagging little injury or whatever else that affected him the first 20 or so games. This team has to be running on all cylinders to have a chance to advance in the playoffs.

I know some say he is not a great fielding first basemen but he made some really good plays in this series.
The brewers are a damn good team and a much needed win with
the 16-9 Reds coming up.

Btw tigers lead inter-league series with Milwaukee
24-23.. i think I saw that.

Series Summary
Tigers win series 2-1
Runs
Brewers 18 Tigers 14.
Homers
Brewers 0 Tigers 5
Team era
Brewers 4.97 Tigers 5.33
Pitchers K’s
Brewers 23 Tigers 20.

12 of the brewers runs were in game one.

Tigers played as poorly as they possibly could against a team who will annoy the hell out of you by losing game one, and they come back and win the next two vs. a legit ball playing team. MIL is good with an excellent farm system.

Tigers now have won 10 of their last 13.

Skubal sails until hitting wall during Crew's 3-run 7th.

Spencer Torkelson just flipped angry Tigers discourse on its head with walk-off homer.
Tork's stock has plummeted in Detroit's clubhouse, but has he just awoken?

It's too bad that he was the 1.1 pick because he has that expectation on him. If he were a 3rd round pick, nobody would bitch about his performance. He is a solid player...just now what everyone hoped he would be.

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers

We’re beginning to see the Tigers’ top prospects get promoted to the MLB level.
It started last year with the addition of Colt Keith. This year, Kevin McGonigle.
Now there’s buzz about a couple catchers and some infielders we may see before the end of the year. Hao-Yu Lee is currently getting his trial run.
There’s also Max Clark who, after having a bad spring training, is currently tearing it up in Toledo. He’s put up the best slash line on the Mud Hens so far.
And before he got called up to replace Parker Meadows, Wenceel Perez took his demotion to heart and started hitting really well.
A lot of bodies are expected to see Detroit this year. But what’s not being discussed is who on the current roster will find themselves being sent down, traded or having a reduced role. We’re already seeing Kevin McGonigle playing more than expected and it helps that both he and Colt Keith currently have the best offensive stats on the team.
So who on the current roster may be at the biggest risk of losing their full-time role? Here are the top 5 positional players. (It’s too soon to evaluate the pitchers which we will address in the near future.)

It is easily Jones. They really don't have anyone to replace Tork or Rogers and I'm sure Carp has a long leash.
