Game #44: Detroit Tigers @ NY Mets, Thursday May 14th, 2026, 1:10 Pm

Very nice turn at second .

Tigers infielder Gage Workman broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning on Sunday against the Royals with a two-run homer off Nick Mears. It was the first long ball as a big leaguer for the 26-year-old, whose middle name is synonymous with home run. Workman was a fourth-round pick in 2020. Detroit lost him in the Rule 5 draft last year, but he failed to stick for too long with the Cubs and White Sox. Workman has put together some strong campaigns in the minors, including an 18-homer, 30-steal season at Double-A in 2024. He’s getting a chance in the big leagues with Kerry Carpenteron the IL. “He has crushed Triple-A pitching pretty much all season and has earned his right to be on a callup list whenever the opportunity came open,” manager A.J. Hinch told reporters, including Jason Beck of MLB.com.

Not much 2nd base experience in that resume. Perhaps we would be better with Keith at 2nd, and Workman at 3rd? We have lots of moving parts, without any of them being especially good at any single one.
 
Gage has 2 more homer then Keith already .

Tho think the tigers as an organization want players to be able to play multiple positions. Not sure if it’s a good thing.

Tigers are listing Ty Madden as the starter Friday at Comerica Park against Blue Jays.

Casey Mize is eligible to come off the IL Friday. He possibly could start on Saturday.

Tork is 7 for 50 with 23 strikeouts since his random 5 HR week.
 
He looks safe to me.
He was clearly safe.

I guess the have last nights refs from the pistons game reviewing challenge calls. It wasn’t even that close.

total BS, clear angle shows safe NY says call stands, so dumb. but tork GIDP on the very next pitch so what the hell difference does it make NONE! oh Tork you're not having a good season with the bat buddy.

It sounds like the remote crew rushed the call after being delayed dealing with another one. Jordan baker is keeping things consistent; this umpiring crew are over reactive hot heads.
 
Walks are a No No
On cue the walk leads to a Two out hr and tie game 3-3.
This team cant get out of its own way. Seems like every
Walk haunts the tigers. Every bad break crushes the tigers.

They said that ball is only a hr on 2 parks they said :/.

Shame we don’t have a true center fielder that maybe pulls
That ball back. I bet Max Clark catches that ball.

Great catch by Kevin at Ss gets Montero out of the inning.

70 pitches and he's done this is a joke. you don't pull him here the pen isn't any better, good god. The tigers are causing me way too much negative emotional stress.
