Game #44: Detroit Tigers @ NY Mets, Thursday May 14th, 2026, 1:10 Pm

For personal well being If there aren't at least 5 players not getting dumped off in Toledo or DFA'd on the way home I will be boycotting any tuning in to the games until they return if they return to .500

It must feel bad for Vanasco knowing you will be back at Toledo soon.
He has to know he won’t be getting many shots anymore in the bigs
again any time soon. I think he is 27. He had no issue getting triple A batters out with a lot of strikeouts.

There are at least 3 or 4 pitchers that need to go

When this series started

Tigers 19-22 soon to be 19-25.
Mets 15-25. Soon to be 18-25.

Tigers are 1-8 since the Skubal injury and that 1st game we lost to the Red Sox we had a 2-0 lead heading into the 7th and we gave up a 5 spot (Vanasco) and we lost that game 5-4. How many leads have we blown since the injury ? We have wasted a few good starts also ?
22 runs in nine games. (Im counting today)
Not very good Mr Harris !

Short

At min all 5 need to go, if any of them are still here Friday afternoon I won't be watching.

The Tigers have allowed 33.7% of inherited runners to score this season. That’s 9th highest in the league.
They also have had the 2nd highest amount of inherited runners with 83.
That’s a bad combination.

Tigers swept by Mets as road woes, 'emotional roller coaster' continue.
This game tests your resolve every day. But what the Tigers are going through right now feels more like an acid test.
The Tigers were swept out of Queens on Thursday, losing the finale against the New York Mets, the last place team in the National League East, 9-4 at Citi Field. They have lost eight of their last nine and have an MLB-worst 7-19 record on the road.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch ejected after brutal out call against Mets.
Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch was ticked off. And frustrated. And he showed his emotion, rushing onto the field to argue with home plate umpire Jordan Baker.
Hinch was ejected for arguing a call in the fourth inning as the Tigers played the New York Mets in Citi Field on Thursday, May 14.

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers

In yesterday’s blog, we started addressing who these Detroit Tigers really are this year. Struggling to get to and stay at .500 and now 5 games under. Pitching, hitting and especially defense have been disappointing.

It’s unlikely to be part of the slow start pattern we saw back in ’23 and ’24. Unfortunately, we’re asking ourselves if this is related to the collapse late last season.
But this feels different. This team is sloppy and not cohesive in their play.
Sure, the vast number of injuries are a big part of the problem. But they can’t be the only reason. The problems in the bullpen and dead-last Outs Above Average in defense have little to do with the number of players on the IL.
So what are the other factors at play? I’ve got the top 5:

I think the infielders playing a different position every night doesn't help them defensively either.
