Trivia: (Without looking it up) The Devil Rays' first MLB game on March 31, 1998, was against the Detroit Tigers. Which Devil Ray hit the first home run for the franchise, and which Tigers' pitcher surrendered it?

HOT TOPICS.
Totally Tigers

Let’s continue the new blog started just before the long holiday weekend.
I’ve picked 5 hot topics that presented themselves recently. Please select 1 in which to share your thoughts. One only.
Now let’s start the discussions.
For those who find the topic interesting, please post a follow up comment, thought or question. Let’s get some discussion threads going.

Ty Madden back from injured list to start vs Rays; Ricky Vanasco out.
The Detroit Tigers activated right-hander Ty Madden from the injured list.
The 26-year-old will start for the Tigers on Monday, June 1, against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field, making his return from the 15-day injured list. He had been sidelined with a right forearm contusion after taking a 108 mph line-drive comebacker off his arm in his latest appearance.

Kudos to Bryce Rainer and Tigers player development for the massive swing teaks they have been able to implement in the last 45 days. 1000% less movement in his load, way quieter beginning to diminish the behind the body wrap, way more on time, and starting to pull the ball.

The Detroit Tigers officially go 6-22 in the month of May.
They scored 0-1 runs in 29% of those games.
Tigers have lost 21 games that they were leading at some point.
No other team has more than 18.MLB average is 11.9.

Colt Keith hit 217/286/262 in May with one RBI. and 6 BB 14/59 vs RHP .237
1/10 vs LHP .100

This weekend the Tigers played 4 different hitters with a sub .500 OPS
Jahmai Jones (.498 OPS), Zack Short (.484), Zach McKinstry (.457),
Jake Rogers (.436). Some of them were even used as pinch hitters!!!!
(For context a .500 OPS ranks 160th in baseball).

This to me, is the most frustating stat of the season. 25 times where a Tigers starter has given up 3 runs or less in a start and have lost.
44 times total last season.

The most disappointing thing about these Detroit Tigers can't be found in the stats.
This is the most disappointing Detroit Tigers team in decades, not just because they failed but by how they failed us.

AJ Hinch is under heavy fire for egregious Keider Montero decision in Tigers loss.

There's one obvious sacrifice in impending Tigers, Ty Madden roster crunch.
It has to be done.

Even Jason Benetti is running out of ways to sugarcoat Tigers' slide into misery.

Riley Greene’s 2 RBI double in the first inning is the Detroit Tigers first hit with a runner in scoring position since last Wednesday.

Already more runs in four innings than the entire series in Chicago how will A. I. Hinch f this one up

Madden getting squeezed. At least 3 of those 6 straight balls looked like strikes. Forced him to groove one

At least on Gameday, all of the balls were pretty far from the strike zone; not even close.

Wow
I turned it on to dinglers 2nd homer and a nifty dp started by Lee, and just missed Lee’s homer while i was typing. Saw the replay.
Hope the pen can hold on.

Lmao
This pen is just garbage. What a stupid pitch.

Isnt that a ex tiger hitting a three run Homer ?

Should have kept that guy over jones

That ball was absolutely demolished

Kyle will walk the first batter and then give up the tying homer.
I sure hope not.

wow Kyle battles back from a 3-1 count.
