GAME 71 - Detroit Tigers @ Cleveland Guardians, Saturday, June 13, 2026 4:10 PM

It blows my mind that the biggest discussion here is Tork. Hes a league average hitter and solid defender. Hes not even top 30 on problems with this current franchise.

What happen of useing Colt at 1st? At least that got st to hit better then. Heck if were going to lose, ets put anyone that can put a bat on the ball.FORGET STOPPING RUN'WE NEED TO SCORE THEM.Really having a wortless .200 swinging out at 1st is not getting it done. And we need a power bat at 3rd,.

Dumb

Tork had a rough first month, but has. An OPS of .800 and 11 homers in the 46 games since. Anyone complaining about him clearly doesnt really follow this team. Who cares if his batting average is .200. He has a good walk rate and one of the only guys hitting homers. Hes not great, but hes definitely not the issue with this shitty team.

better get your eye check ops is.718

Valencia Catches too and has 12 homers. Just a tad more than Rogers. He bats Right

Guess they don’t like his 23% throw out rate.

No hitter on this roster other the Dingler or Greene should be safe.
And yet Greene can be really frustrating like today with a runner on 3rd and zero out. Torres maybe should be traded.

Tork is resting off his one big week. He has 11 homers and 28 RBIs.
Like you said he is down the list of players who should be gone and we have blasted all of those before Tork . (Jones, Vierling , Rogers, Perez, McKinstry, and many others have been talked about before we blast Tork .

It he has the same damn issues all the hitters have.
Tigers situational hitting is just not very good. Team wide we can’t seem to hit the slow stuff. Cleveland’s staff has Tiger batters twisted in knots and sadly Cleveland is still on a run where they only have been scoring 3 runs a game, and Tiger hitters cant take advantage.
Tork is 24th in ops in mlb at 717. His Obp is 24th. Slugging is 23rd. Average is 27th and last on the list.
He is 13th in homers (11) and 26th in RBIs. He has (28).
Tied for 2nd in strikeouts at (90). Tied at 15th in BB.
His 49 hits puts him at 26th. 25 runs puts him at 28th.
23rd in total bases at 96.

We all want Tork to succeed.

Idk G these are not good numbers and yet I agree as I am sure most on this board that many other players should be gone before him.
But what are our hitting coaches teaching these hitters ?

Workman and Lee come up and we just don’t get much. Im just not trusting Harris for any move right now and yet moves need to be made. Why is Jones still get at bats ?

Skubal works around jeers from the stands and miscues in the field in return to action.
Tigers official site

Boxscore.

Guardians smother Tigers in Tarik Skubal’s return.
Skubal looked healthy, but Daniel Schneemann’s two-run homer was the difference.
BYBTB

Tarik Skubal brings heat but execution is off as Guardians top Tigers.
There are no magic pills or potions in baseball.
The return of reigning, two-time Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal will provide a shot in the arm for the Tigers over time, but it was unrealistic to think he was going come back after missing 45 days and immediately turn the season around.
"I don't want to play into that narrative of trying to be back," Skubal said after the Tigers were beaten by the Guardians 3-1 Saturday at Progressive Field. "I need to be better, plain and simple. 'Just happy to be there,' that's a loser mentality to me. I need to go out there and pitch and compete and give my team a chance to win and I didn't do that."
Detnews

Tarik Skubal's return not enough to shake Tigers' Cleveland malaise.
They can’t beat 'em. Not this season anyway. Not at Comerica Park. Not so far at Progressive Field.
That’s six losses in a row for the Detroit Tigers vs. the Cleveland Guardians, if you’re counting – almost all of them unfolding the same way: The Tigers hang around and keep it close; the Guardians make the deciding play.
At the plate. In the field. Usually both. Also, weird things tend to happen when these teams get together. Fluky things. Hit batters. Errant throws. Bat luck. Puck luck. Whatever. Doesn’t matter. Nor does it matter – apparently – if the game’s best pitcher is on the mound for the Tigers.
Freep

Tarik Skubal’s comeback start spoiled by another Tigers’ loss in Cleveland.
The Detroit Tigers were glad to get their ace back, but would have preferred to celebrate with a victory.
The Cleveland Guardians withstood an unusual flurry of in-game injuries and the Tigers went 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position in 3-1 loss on Saturday night at Progressive Field.
The Tigers (29-42) are now 0-6 against the Guardians (39-33) in 2026 and will try to stave off a sweep in Sunday’s finale.

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

We all remember the drama surrounding Alex Bregman and the Tigers’ attempt to sign him. He went to the Red Sox the first time despite the Tigers’ higher offer and then opted out and signed another contract with the Chicago Cubs for 5 years/$175 mill at age 32.
You may remember that his agent is Scott Boras. The 2nd time around, the Tigers refused to engage in bidding for him.
The Cubs are currently sitting around .500, 7.5 games (through Friday’s games) out of 1st place.
Bregman is publicly blaming himself for what he considers poor performance and his “inability” to help his team. He is known for his leadership, character and always stepping up.
His slash line sits just above the entire Tigers’ cumulative slash line and sits lower than what he usually puts up. He’s got 6 HRs so far and 22 RBIs in 69 games. However, the big difference is that he walks a ton and strikeouts very little. His plate discipline is considered to be elite.
Defensively, he ranks 4th in DRS in all of MLB and he’s the 3rd best player with a glove on the Cubs. He is marginally better than Kevin McGonigle at the same position.
Where Bregman really excels is his reputation as a highly-effective mentor and leader for the younger players, taking a very active role in helping train and coach them. All players have lauded him for his accessibility and willingness to work overtime as a mentor and team leader.
The Tigers have started to bring up their younger, inexperienced players. It is unknown if the Tigers have a leader and mentor among their roster.
Given all of these factors, do you feel the Tigers should have pushed again and signed Bregman last winter?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!
For this one blog only, you’ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts. Of course, you can also respond to other readers.
TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.
Ready?

Should the Tigers have pushed to sign Alex Bregman the 2nd time he became a free agent?

1. Yes.

2. No.
