Jones has been shockingly bad for the Tigers this year, hitting .137/.219/.221 in 105 plate appearances, including .154/.250/.256 against left-handers. He hit .288/.393/.577 against lefties last year in 122 plate appearances. Still just 28, it’s possible he gets claimed off waivers.

Roy McMillan (starting shortstop in the 1957 ASG) looks like Sparky Anderson and is presciently wearing the #11 that Sparky wore as Tigers' manager. It was the number assigned to Sparky, and Rusty Staub wore #10 at the time.

Tigers call up Eduardo Valencia, DFA Jahmai Jones.
The Detroit Tigers on Thursday recalled catcher Eduardo Valencia from Triple-A Toledo.
To make room, the Tigers designated outfielder Jahmai Jones for assignment.
The righthanded Valencia, 26, was hitting .267 with 16 home runs and 49 RBIs in 76 games for the Mud Hens this season. He boasted an .839 OPS. His first game with the Tigers will be his major-league debut.
