    Disgusting game at columbus

Tough one to watch. The Wings might be too comfortable, which is surprising. Two straight second round exits in the playoffs should make a team hungry, not comfortable.

    Player Options

Losing Thomas would be no big deal. He's 28 and hasn't done much. I'd prefer if the Tigers put some younger guys in Toledo. The outfield in AAA should have potential big leaguers, not guys like Thomas and Timo Perez. I'm sure there's a reason these guys get all the at bats, but it doesn't make a...

    Worth being scouted

This is just untrue. Most teams have multiple guys occupy the fifth spot, including plenty of playoff teams.

    at this rate

The good news is that lower seeded teams have made runs recently, so the key is to get it together before the playoffs and then hope for the best. Helm is a big loss, but not really comparable to Zetterberg, in my opinion.

Any one ever sit in the Pavillion, sec 144.

The view is fine. You're down by the foul pole? Usually there is some fun to be had with the bullpen guys. And you're a short walk around the outfield statues and stuff.

ex-Angels Napoli and ex-Rangers Wilson feuding

Kind of a dick move by Wilson, but Napoli strikes me as a huge baby. Out of one side of his mouth comes "If Wilson had a problem, he should have just contacted me, that's what I would do." and then out of the other side comes his crybaby "it wasn't a prank" whine to the media. Pick an opinion...

    Wet Cacti Today

The Angels might be pretty good.... Haren, Weaver, CJ Wilson, Santana, plus adding Puhols and Kendry Morales (maybe). They might be the best on paper. Hopefully Mike Scioscia will waste a lot of outs with bunts as he proves how smart he is.

Tigers' Jacob Turner having 'dead-arm period'

No regular team can compete without cheap talent. Longterm, the Tigers are a team that needs entry level contracts to be competitive. Detroit is not New York. The method you advocate would be a disaster here.

    Pettitte back with Yankees

What can they expect? A 1.4 WHIP, 4.70 ERA? My guess is that he'll be a non-factor.

Tigers' Jacob Turner having 'dead-arm period'

Trading players when their value is low? It's not like Turner is expected to be a key part of the 2012 team. Patience is better than panic.

    Raburn....

Take a look at Peralta's numbers first half/second half. Irrational.
  12. J

    Raburn....

Where have I said he should play verses righties? Where have I said he should play second base at all? You're inventing things to argue about, as I have never said any such things. I've only made the point that Raburn's overall numbers are better and they are. Simple enough, even for you to...

    Raburn....

I'm not missing the point. I get that he hates Raburn and will ignore black and white factual numbers. Fine by me. I'm fully prepared for another year of irrational Raburn hate, may as well start it in March.
  14. J

    Raburn....

Peralta is more important, no doubt. You are kinda veering off from the original point, which was "Raburn has better numbers than Peralta". Which he does. If you want to qualify it, feel free. I'm certainly not saying that Raburn is more important or more valuable or even a better player...
  15. J

    Raburn....

His numbers have nothing to do with fielding. And, Peralta is a poor fielder, too. Raburn's career OPS+ is 106, Peralta's is 102. Not a huge difference, but Raburn has been a better hitter.
  16. J

    Raburn....

Maybe. But also true of most average players, including Young, Peralta and Boesch among others.
  17. J

    Raburn....

Again, your prejudices. What you said is untrue.

    Wings @ Kings

I didn't see this one. But, with the road struggles all year, coupled with the slide down the standings, it's starting to not look very good for a deep run. Hopefully, the cavalry comes back soon and they can at least hang on to the 4 spot.
  19. J

    Raburn....

This is more a product of your prejudices than Raburn's ability. He has better career numbers than most of the starters including Young, Boesch and Peralta.

5 things that must happen for the Tigers to go far

I don't think number 1 is realistic or necessary. Boesch has never had an OPS over .8, Young has only done it once and Raburn is about 50/50. You're basically saying that those three need to have career years. 2 - This would be nice. However, all three have been under 4 once out of 3 years...
