Game 48 Detroit Tigers @ Kansas City Royals, at Kauffman Stadium, May 21, 2024 7:40 p.m. EST

We signed pitchers as well. Traded for hitting? Got any viable trades in mind at this point in the season? Some will open up later when the less successful teams start dumping players; unfortunately, we will probably be one of those teams.

Can you name some free agents that we could have signed that would move the needle more than Canha and Urshela?

I don't think you got my point. There weren't good options out there on the free agent market of hitters. That is what we needed. KC needed pitching; that is a different field of players.

Game 48 Detroit Tigers @ Kansas City Royals, at Kauffman Stadium, May 21, 2024 7:40 p.m. EST

The comparison is a bit apples to oranges. KC spent most of that money on pitching acquisitions, a couple that have worked out quite well. The two hitters in their lineup that they acquired were Frazier and Renfroe, and neither of them are doing anything great. We needed hitters, and there...

Not much focus in evidence on the field right now.

    Game 46 Detroit Tigers @ Arizona Diamonbacks, May 19, 2024 4:10 p.m. EST

Holton and Faedo both pitched well. Look at how Arizona scored those runs on two short line drives and 2 infield ground balls. They had luck on their side this game; just a couple inches on Carpenter’s slide, Baez’ almost catch, and Rogers’ not holding the ball, and it would be a completely...

Cora is a bit too aggressive as 3rd base coach; we have lost quite a few of those calls this season.

    MVP in this stadium, perhaps.

    Game 46 Detroit Tigers @ Arizona Diamonbacks, May 19, 2024 4:10 p.m. EST

4-1 after four innings; Arizona has 9 hits and 3 walks, so we are lucky it’s not much worse.

    Game 45 Detroit Tigers @ Arizona Diamondbacks, May 18, 2024 5:10 p.m. EST

Or to translate, Lovullo wasn’t happy about getting beaten badly twice in a row, so he conjured something out of thin air to rile up his team. What he actually said was basically meaningless.

Tork just hit a home run, Diamonbacks are up 3-1 in the 3rd inning. Manning isn’t very sharp, but they seem to be hitting a few pitches on the edges of the strike zone pretty hard in a random way; I wonder if he is tipping his pitches?

Game 43 Detroit Tigers vs. Miami Marlins, at Comerica Park, May 15, 2024 1:10 p.m. EST

The left-right platooning is on pure autopilot. And it isn't yielding any dividends.

Now just McKinstry. Does Hinch really think that Rogers will get better results than Carpenter just because he bats righty?

Great, hang two off speed pitches in a row.

    Game 40 Houston Astros @ Detroit Tigers May 12, 2024 1:40 p.m.

Actually, the first guy out of the pen has done well all week; it's the second or third guy out that has done damage. Of course, outside of the 2nd inning yesterday, the real damage has been done by the dormant offense.

    Game 40 Houston Astros @ Detroit Tigers May 12, 2024 1:40 p.m.

Well, for a contrast, Verlander got in the same count in almost the same situation (two outs instead of one), took no chances of the same thing happening and issued the walk, then made it a bit worse by hitting someone, but still pitched out of it. Perhaps taking the risk of a bb when their...
