That entire state is a hell hole. The LSU football program is perhaps one of my least 3 favorites in the nation, right along side USC and Notre Dame.
So my friend was telling me that one of the biggest LSU boosters is a family that owns huge amounts of land in Louisiana. They now make their money by selling pipeline easements across it, basically calculating how much it would cost an oil or gas company to build a pipeline around their land, then charging them 60-70% of that, which apparently keeps everyone happy. The LSU football program is perhaps one of my least 3 favorites in the nation, right along side USC and Notre Dame.
I'm the one who mentioned that, but I also think there should be some kind of penalty to go with it. Like whomever does it has to sit out a year unless a graduate, but does NOT lose any eligibility years. Some kind of deterrent so that it doesn't happen on whim like it does now. Also, there should be tampering rules. There may be a rule, now, but it's clearly not followed.I thought that the entire modus operandi of NCAA College Football was to limit or eliminate the influence of the boosters and donors. That a cadre of rich alums and businesses cling to the success of their local CFB team as validation for their own success is a perversion of college athletic competition.
I think that the teams that want to chase the glass trophy and will spend tens of millions to get it are missing the entire point of competition at this level. That includes Michigan, and that's a substantial disappointment to me.
Someone said that Moore should watch the playoffs with the intent of "poaching" players for next season. That's what it's come to, apparently, to appease the fans of these (and this) program(s).
Okay, but coaches should also have similar restrictions and boosters should too. If anything, the adults in the room should have more restrictions, not less.I'm the one who mentioned that, but I also think there should be some kind of penalty to go with it. So, the problem with this part is that coaches can be fired on a whim. "Student"-athletes cannot lose their scholarship for performance issues. Also, if a coach takes off or is fired, the student gets a window to leave. So, the advantages and disadvantages should even out. They are way more pro athlete than pro coach.Okay, but coaches should also have similar restrictions and boosters should too. the coaches can be fired on a whim, but so what? They've been negotiating these massive buyouts in their contracts. Can you imagine being bad at your job and getting fired without cause, BUT THEN getting paid $50 MILLION dollars because of that, and feeling you've been wronged? So, the problem with this part is that coaches can be fired on a whim.
