2013 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot. Vote for deserving Tigers players.

It's a Popularity Contest, but that's the way they want it, so we need to and should vote for the deserving Tiger's players every day we are here.

KC/Ron I would suggest that this thread be made sticky until the fans' vote closes. Per the top link, voting ends at 11:59 PM ET on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Well not going to vote for V-Mart and definitely not Avila at this point. But everyone else is fairly deserving.

I used to believe "vote for the best", now I'm all about voting for the Tigers, well outside Don Kelly. Can't muster that. If NY and LA etc are only voting their players I'm voting for ours, making a fair.

Actually I wound up voting for V-Mart anyway because all the other choices were...undesirable to say the least. Ortiz? Gag. Hafner? Gag. Butler? Gag. Dunn, Scott? Gag and gag. Besides, Victor might have the avg cranked up to a respectable .280 by then...

Tigers Miguel Cabrera has 1.5 million votes as of today's All-Star balloting update.
The next-closest AL 3B: Manny Machado with 723,943.

The only other #Tigers player in line to win a starting spot right now is Torii Hunter, 3rd among AL outfielders. Fielder is 2nd at 1B.

Miggy leading the way in AL All-Star voting.
Davis holds edge over Fielder at first base, while Trout, Jones running 1-2 in outfield.

That players like Avila are even on the ballot makes the entire exercise a farce. Time for a committee for each league to assemble the best team and treat it like a real game, where some players might not see any action at all.

That crappy players can be considered and that the best players can opt out makes the game itself a farce, too. Maybe it's time to simply discontinue it.

Miggy surprised by outpouring of All-Star love.
DETROIT -- Miguel Cabrera is a big enough star that he was recognized by reporters during Game 7 of the NBA's Eastern Conference Finals on his off-day back home in Miami. Still, even he is surprised by the outpouring of votes for him in All-Star Game balloting.
"That's great," Cabrera said. " Keep voting."
That said, he's trying to keep his focus on Tigers games for now. It's similar to the way he's handling Triple Crown talk these days.
"If we win 95, 98 games, that's great to me," he said.
Cabrera leads all American League players with more than 1.5 million votes, twice as much as his nearest competitor at third base.
Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- online or via a mobile device -- using the 2013 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot until Thursday, July 4, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Fans may submit 25 online ballots during the voting period but can also earn a one-time bonus of 10 additional online ballots. To access these additional online ballots, fans must be logged into an MLB.com account when submitting any online ballot. Podcast Jim Leyland, AL All Star Manager, discusses his final vote choices and Zobrist over Longoria.
SiriusXM

I don't always (often) agree with Leyland, but I really respect how he picked the last spot candidates. Shows why players love to play for him, recognizing the guys who do the jobs without the flash and flair, and wants then to get some recognition, and I think he explained why he picked who he did perfectly.

Yes, I agree with all that.

I was listening to Bowden way before Leyland was on, and he ripped him for not picking Longoria.
