Without our top defensemen. Lost a guy to ejection tonight.
Michigan did win in ot 3-2. We are now (22-4-0) and (13-3-0)

Trail 3-1 after two. Msu is playing much better then michigan.
Slowing us down big time.

Played slow for 2 periods. Peck saved the day although two goals were kinda of soft. Maybe one. Msu got the first power play. Um got a shorty to make it 3-2.:They tied it up late 3-3. Um has like 50 3rd period goals.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 1-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team (22-4, 13-3 Big Ten) hosts No. 2 Michigan State (21-5, 12-4 Big Ten) in a high-stakes showdown this weekend. The teams face off at 7 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 6) at Yost Ice Arena, with the game airing on FS1. Saturday's (Feb. 7) Duel in the D will take place at Little Caesars Arena, with puck drop set for 6:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.

Notes

• Michigan is coming off a sweep of Ohio State in Columbus and, for the 10th straight week, is ranked No. 1 in the USCHO poll. The Wolverines are also first in the Big Ten standings, with a one-point edge over Michigan State.

• The Wolverines have recorded five road sweeps this season (Providence, Harvard, Notre Dame, Minnesota and Ohio State) for the first time in program history.

• This is the first time Michigan and Michigan State are meeting as the top two teams in the nation. Michigan is 1-2 when ranked No. 1 and facing the No. 2 team following a split with Western Michigan in October and a 3-2 loss to Wisconsin on Nov. 26, 2005.

• Friday's game marks the 350th meeting between Michigan and Michigan State. The Wolverines hold a 180-145-24 edge in the series. The teams have split the last three two-game series, including in December when Michigan won 3-0 at Munn Ice Arena before falling 3-1 at home.

• Saturday will mark the 10th annual Duel in the D. Michigan has won six times, while Michigan State has won three times, including the last two.

• Senior T.J. Hughes was named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 3) after a four-point weekend at OSU. He scored twice on Friday, including the game-winning goal, while chipping in an assist. Hughes' assist on Nick Moldenhauer's overtime game-winner marked his 100th career assist. Hughes is the 20th Wolverine to reach 100 career assists and the first since T.J. Hensick in 2007.

• With 160 career points, Hughes continues to make his climb up the Michigan career scoring list. He currently sits in 29th place, tied with Brad McCaughey.

• Michigan continues to put up big numbers, averaging 4.80 goals per game, as the top-scoring offense in the nation. Hughes leads the way with 38 points, followed by Michael Hage (35), Will Horcoff (32), Jayden Perron (26), and Adam Valentini (22).

Stephen Peck is now 5-0 since taking over the net from an injured Jack Ivankovic. Peck made a career-best 30 saves on Friday (Jan. 30) at OSU, before besting it with 32 on Saturday.

pretty nice comeback win. it's a great year for Michigan. I can't remember a time when we were this competitive in this many sports

Just like last night getting out worked in the 1st period and trail 1-0. Out shot badly.
Msu gets 1st power play as um is still sleep walking sadly.
Um top goalie is back and he looks bad. Easy goal on power play for msu.
Trail 2-0. End of 1st.

2nd period starts as bad as the first period. No energy. Nothing.
Poor defensive coverage. Getting smoked 3-0 .. 15 ish left
Now it’s 4-0. Getting worked. Top goalie looks slow.
Trail 4-1 end of the 2nd. Getting smoked so far.

3rd started Poorly for Michigan but um got a goal at 14:59 to cut
Lead to 4-2.
Msu dominants the game in Detroit tonight winning the 3rd straight duel in the D. Getting smashed 5-2. Msu gets 4 points on the weekend and um only gets 2 because of the ot win. Now msu leads the big ten regular season by point..

Forgot to record both nights. Just turned it on to see that dirty play by your goalie at the end of the second. No call of course. Hopefully we don’t fold and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like last night.

Our goalie is Jeremy Fears Jr. in disguise.

Would have been nice to get 6 points and have room for a let down loss but we’ll take 4 and the conference lead.

You don’t think msu is playing dirty both nights you are clueless. It was a joke msu first penalty at yost last night was called in ot.

Yeah only one team plays dirty. Get your green goggles off. Msu had plenty of cheap hits all weekend not called.

Regular season crown is spectacular. You should sweep your last 6 games.

I think the two coaches are 9-9 against each other.

I didn’t see last night’s game or say it was 1 sided but your goalie tackled our guy while ur defenseman was cross checking him and neither one was called. That was bad.

We should but nothing is guaranteed. We already dropped 2 at home to wisco and I think we even lost one to OSU. I’d feel a lot better with a 5 pt lead but you’re right - take care of business and it should work out for the top seed in BTT.

I think so. Nightingale is 7-3-1 against teams ranked #1. That’s insane.

Edit: that could be a bit misleading because they can sweep a #1 team in a weekend so the 2nd win is before rankings update. But it’s still impressive.
