ALDS Divisional Rd Game #5: Detroit Tigers @ Seattle Mariners, Friday October 10th, 2025, 8:08 Pm

THE ROSTER TAKES A HIT.

Will Tigers trade Tarik Skubal in 2025-26 offseason? Scott Harris: "I can't comment on our players being traded. I can't comment on free agents. I can't comment on other teams' players. I'm going to respond by just not actually commenting on it."

Tigers in 2024-25: Tarik Skubal starts: 42-20. Non-Skubal starts: 131-131.
Scott Harris: "It would be arrogant and tone-deaf to claim that we can do all this stuff without him, but it's also offensive to the other players in the clubhouse to treat us as a one-player team."

Riley Greene has an image problem in Detroit.
Many fans think he doesn't care all that much. They may be wrong, but in fandom, perception is reality.

Detroit Tigers’ PoBO, Scott Harris and Manager A. J. Hinch had their end-of-year press conference on Monday. And too many fans are mad that they didn’t get specific answers to their most pressing questions.

Remember when Al Avila was in charge and he spilled everything? When his bon mots included telling us that no teams were interested in trading for Nick Castellanos? We begged for him to keep quiet.

And now that we have someone in charge who is more like Dave Dombrowski who played his cards close to his vest, fans are unhappy that they’re not getting the information they want.

Worst of all, they – and some in the media – are trying to take a very routine press conference and turn it into something controversial.
Let’s dig into the highlights, shall we? Let’s cover the important topics of the presser and dispel some of the fans’ concerns.

POST-SEASON POLL #1 – IMPROVEMENT?
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers finished 2025 with 87 wins and 75 losses. They won 1 more game than they did in 2024.
They moved up from finishing 3rd in 2024 to 2nd this year. Both years they made the playoffs and got eliminated in the ALDS.
The Tigers started off slowly last year but had their best 2 months in August and September. This year, they were 1 of the top 2 teams in MLB until their slide starting in July. September’s record was the worst in MLB and they lost a 15-game lead.
Would you say that the team got better this year?

Are the 2025 Tigers better than the 2024 Tigers?

1. Yes, they are better.

2. It's a tie.

3. No, they are not as good.

Although, statistically and record wise, they are similar, I voted not as good. Last year they won a playoff series and ended the season on the upswing. This year, they got worse as the season progressed.

Won 1 more game (were good for 4-5 months compared to less than 2), also won a series and were one inning from from an ALCS, just like last year. I think it was a push if anything. My opinion.

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers

We saw it during the last couple months this season. The cracks and holes in the Tigers’ roster were starting to show more clearly.
In his press conference earlier this week, Scott Harris said the dive in offensive talent keeps him up at night.
But what else does?
The Tigers have a lot of needs. But here are the 5 that need filling the most, in no particular order.

The Tigers struck out 88 times during the 2025 playoffs, in eight games over two series. The Tigers starter with the fewest K's was ... Javy Baez. He struck out just three times in 33 plate appearances.

Spencer Torkelson’s 2025 Stats: 155 G 649 PA .240/.333/.456 31 HR 82 R 78 RBI 11.1 BB% / 26.0 K% 118 wRC+ 2.3 fWAR. He faced a lot of criticism coming into the season but had a career best in AVG, OBP, SLG, BB%, wRC+, fWAR.
