Best Tigers Game you went to at Briggs/Tiger Stadium / Comerica Park

May 18, 2025. bump for this great day for 12 year old me at a Tigers game.

May 18, 1959: Jim Bunning pitches and bats the Tigers to a 14 - 2 beating of the red sox at Fenway Park. Bunning pitches the complete game and also homers and triples to knock in 5 runs.
Al Kaline, Charlie Maxwell, and Frank Bolling also hit homeruns in the Tigers 16 hit attack.

HITTING IT OUT OF THE PARK.
Totally Tigers

Best game by far was Game 5 of the 84 World Series. When Gibby hit that second home run off of Gossage and we knew that the Tigers were going to win the World Series at home in front of us, the noise made it feel like the place was going to come down.
Aside from that, the Ordonez walkoff pennant-clincher in 2006, and the Frank Tanana game to win the division in 1987. And, of course, my first Tiger games -- July 12, 1970 doubleheader against the Orioles, with most of my 1968 heroes playing -- the starting pitchers were Mickey Lolich and Denny McLain; and Mickey Stanley, Bill Freehan and Al Kaline hit leadoff home runs in the first three innings of Game One. Awesome introduction to Tiger baseball.

There's still something special about the contents of an old manila envelope that I have stashed away in the bedroom.

Remembering the best Tigers game I went to as a kid going on 12 with my father all the way back on May 18, 1959.
