Detroit Tigers Minor League Notes

The Tigers signed Detroit native Jalen Evans this off-season. Here's how Jalen is looking in his last live AB at TreadHQ before heading to minor league spring training (spoiler alert: he looks really, really good).

MLB Farm System Rankings:
4. Detroit. The top 4 are top 50 guys and that goes a long way to getting Detroit this high. There is some depth here but a lot of questions surround it. It wouldn't surprise me if Detroit inched closer to #1 or dropped to 15. A lot of variance here.Breakout: Carlos Marcano RHP

Konnor Pilkington, LHP, signs Tigers deal. Minors deal. Invite to MLB camp.
Konnor throws a fastball, change and a slider. His k rate of 27.6% was the league average. (22.2)%. Walks are his biggest issue but a K per 9 of 10.8 in 28 innings of work with Washington, something to work with.

The Tigers agreed to a minor-league contract with free agent Slater, including a spring training invite; it pays $2 million if he makes the big-league team, plus up to $500,000 in bonuses. Slater hit .216 last season across the White Sox and Yankees, shining with a .726 OPS against lefties, and brings a .341 career OBP plus glove skills from his Giants days. Detroit sees him as low-risk depth and righty balance for their young roster, with beat writers calling it smart insurance ahead of spring battles.

BYB 2026 Tigers prospect reports #32: OF Roberto Campos.
The former top IFA signing is still only 22, but he’s on his way to being forgotten if things don’t click in 2026.

BYB 2026 Tigers prospect reports #29: OF Seth Stephenson.
The Tigers may finally have a true speed player on their bench if Stephenson can take one more step in the upper minors.

The Tigers have added another position player from Indy Ball. This time it’s Michigan native and former Georgia/Kentucky outfielder Nolan McCarthy.

The strength of the Tigers system is clearly on the position player side, w/ 4 consensus top 100 prospects, and Thayron Liranzo + Max Anderson in that range as well for some reputable outlets. Kelvis Salcedo and Malachi Witherspoon stand out as 2 SPs who could join them in 2026.
