Ben Kenney of Badger Wire has predictions for every B1G team for 2025. I don't know who Brian Kenney is but I'd be surprised if the end of the season looked much like what he's predicting. He picked perennial also-ran psu to lose to OSU but tie for the conference title with them - although they don't play uofm and they have Oregon at home so maybe. He also has Bret Bielema's fighting illini finishing alone in 3rd. Granted they have a cakewalk of a schedule, but Bret Bielema? c'mon man...

Anyway, he has us in a 3-way tie for 12th with wisco and Indiana. That's a pretty big drop off for the Hoosiers. Has the JMU to Bloomington pipeline dried up? Final observation, he seems pretty high on the west coast teams with Oregon tied for 4th w/ uofm at 9-3 and the others all hitting the 8-4 mark.

Somebody put us in the top half (barely) of the power 70 football programs (power 4 conferences + ND, Wash St & Or State). I have no idea who CF Budge is or where he gets this optimism from, but here's to hoping he's right.

I also don't understand why everyone is so high on Penn State - Franklin is looking like the Bill Self of college football except in college football it's nearly impossible to luck your way to a national championship. So far only Harbaugh has managed to do that.

2025 MSU Football
WMU - W
BC - W
YSU - W
@USC - L
@Nebraska - L
UCLA - W
@IU - L (Cignetti has never had a losing football team anywhere he's been)
UM - L
@MINN - L
PSU - L
@IOWA - L
MD - W (pathetic they're playing a home game in Detroit)
BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - LOL

5-7 (2-7)

The lack of a bounce back season under Smith, kinda like Brady Hoke had with RichRod's kids and you see in other places when a terrible coach gets fired, is not a good sign. John Smith looking like a dud.

On the bright side, with expectations so low, if they do score an upset against a legit good & talented team, or can beat Minn, USC, or Nebraska on the road, AND don't lose any of the 5 gimmes on the schedule, it will be something to build on.

If MSU manages to hire a good AD, that will help a lot. How's that search going?

In no way pointing fingers here. John L. Smith just being human. And has any CFB program EVER had TWO head coaches named. John/Jon Smith?
