Signed right out of Southern High School in Baltimore, Maryland, Kaline went straight to the Tigers as a Bonus Baby with the 2 year rule, and played like an Seasoned All-Star Veteran.
Kaline was a Lifetime Tiger for 67 years as one of the greatest Right Fielders in MLB History, A Tigers broadcaster with Hall Of Fame Player and announcer George Kell.
A spring Training Coach every year after he retired, and an Adviser to the Tigers front office from 2005 to his passing.
Kaline was the embodiment of Class and Integrity on and off the playing field, a Member of the 3000 Hit Club and Winner of 10 Gold Gloves for Fielding Excellence, and named to 18 All-Star Games, Mr Tiger was Known as the Outfielder with the Most Accurate Throwing Arm of All-Time.
Kaline was one of 7 Hall of Fame Players who went to the baseball heavens in 2020.

While Skubal has only been a Tiger, JV has not. Please evaluate him for his work while wearing the Olde English D – going on 14 years.
Consider that while a Tiger, JV finished in the top 5 in CY voting during 6 of his 13 years here. He won it once (while also winning MVP) but legitimate controversy involving
1 single vote robbed him of winning it 2 more times while a Tiger. (He won it 2 times as an Astro.)
Going on his 7th year as a Tiger, Skubal has won back-to-back CYs. For the other years, he did not place in the top 5 in voting.

In 2025 April and May the Tigers were the best team in baseball. Why? They played sharp smart baseball and they executed, and also played with the arrogance and attitude of a street gang They have done none of those things in 2026 with better players.
You may have hated Mize last night..but it was 33 degrees..and he couldn't throw a splitter to save his life. I'm gonna reserve judgment for two more starts, kind of like what I have seen is pitch shape tweaks, and increase potential for swing and miss.

AJ Hinch told MLBNetwork Radio this morning that Tigers will probably split up Tarik Skubal and Framber Valdez in the rotation order at some point after some off-days. They’ll currently back-to-back in the rotation, including tonight and tomorrow vs. Twins at Target Field.
Translation: I tried to see if we could stack the rotation, but 3/4/5 are so unreliable that I can't stack them.

Kerry Carpenter was sick with the stomach flu, which is why he wasn't in the starting lineup vs. Twins right-hander Joe Ryan. Carpenter is 4-for-8 (.500) with one home run, zero walks and one strikeout vs. Ryan. He also has a career 1.076 OPS in 33 games vs. the Twins.
