Right on cue.
Cleveland and KC inch closer.

Hey Harris . The lead is down to 8.

We just wanted bullpen help !

I'm not sure if it will make us feel any better, but the two relievers that the Yankees just traded for (Bird and Bednar) pitched the 6th and 7th tonight and gave up 6 runs to the Marlins. Of course, a Yankee hit a home run in the 8th, and the game is tied again.

I don’t get bring in Vest to pitch to 1 rhb with 2 lefty’s coming up.
Just let Holton sink or swim there, and in the 7th too.

Classic AJ over managing. I think the Phillies can hit a fast ball.
But like G. said this loss is clearly on Harris.

KC and Cleveland both won. I feel bad. Frustrated we blew this game we should have won.

I'm just pointing out that one of the teams that acquired a couple quality relievers had it backfire on them tonight. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with the new Philly addition. I'm watching the game right now, and Bednar is still in for the Yankees, with Doval still in the bullpen.

i know. Duran only needed 4 pitches. Wish we had a guy like him.
I sure hope they bounce back. I’d be shocked if the Twins won a game in Cleveland.

Phillies were 0-13 when trailing by 3 or more runs after the 7th.
Not any more Mr Harris.

Hah, final report on the Yankees game. They sent Doval in to close, and he gave up 3 runs. Marlins won in a walk-off.

They all won but the dang Tigers.

SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

The 2025 trade deadline is now over. The Detroit Tigers made these acquisitions:
  • Starting pitcher Chris Paddack and RHP Randy Dobnak from the Twins in exchange for catching prospect Enrique Jimenez.
  • Right-handed reliever Rafael Montero from the Braves (free agent after this year) in exchange for infielder Jim Jarvis.
  • Closer Paul Sewald from the Guardians for cash or PTNL.
  • Closer Nate Finnegan from the Nationals in exchange for 2 A-level pitching prospects.
  • Codi Heuer from the Rangers in exchange for cash.
  • Starting pitcher Charlie Morton from the Orioles in exchange for 1 A-level pitcher.
The Tigers’ focus was on pitching given that they lost yet another member of their rotation. And their bullpen dropped significantly in performance, now ranking #27 in MLB.
Take into consideration that Scott Harris indicated that he wasn’t going to mortgage the team’s future by trading away ranked prospects. And that it is a very risky proposition to trade for a player who is going to be a free agent in just 2 months.
It was also a seller’s market that increased the prices for trades. The Mariners gave away 2 ranked prospects plus another one in a trade to acquire Eugenio Suarez, who will become a free agent in 2 months.
As you ponder these moves, you may also consider that the moves you don’t make could also be the best moves.

How would you grade the Tigers’ strategy at the deadline?
What do think about Harris' trade moves overall?

1. Solid moves that addressed the biggest concerns without depleting solid prospect talent.

2. Too conservative. Should have traded more talent in order to get more talent.

3. Didn't do enough. Should have gone "all in" and given up multiple ranked prospects to get the best available players.

4. Too soon to tell. Need to see this play out.
