We can criticize Riley Greene for the strikeouts, the noncompetitive at bats, the complete lack of consistency and inability to hits lefties at all. But one of his most shocking statistics during this slump: In his last 91 AB, he’s drawn 1 walk and struck out 34 times. We have discussed the strange and very concerning trend of Riley Greene not walking all year. Walked 11% in 2024 now down to 6% in 2025. Its the single biggest reason he sucks right now. Pitchers know he will swing and swing and that his load is poor and he is so late.
Entering Monday, Riley Greene had hit just .176 (18-for-102) with four walks and 41 strikeouts in his last 26 games. He then struck out swinging in his first plate appearance vs. Twins righty Travis Adams. Since July 2, his batting average has dropped from .298 to .268.
