Game #118: Los Angeles Angels @ Detroit Tigers, Saturday August 9th, 2025, 6:10 Pm

Tigers now 12-22 in games Rogers has played this year for Detroit.
We are 12-22 in those games with all his teammates as well, other than the recent additions. We are 3-5 with them (except Paddack).

Jones 0-4 batting .224
Ibanez 1-4 batting .226

Malloy is batting .310 in Toledo. 36 Bb to 41 K’s obp .441 .
He is the rhb we need to leadoff verses LHP.
(2-4) rbi tonight.

We saw Jones in left. cant field either . That route in the 1st inning g was terrible and cost a run.

Rogers is batting .176. He should not be on the team. You can’t tell me there aren’t better options. Im tired of hearing guys are here because of culture . The goal is to win the World Series. We need some ball players who can play.

I didn’t like what management did at the deadline. Other than Finnegan im not really impressed with the other guys so far. So what
Morton gets a bunch of K’s. He always seems to hang a pitch here a pitch there and instead of 10 k’s and a win he spun two terrible 1-2 count pitches and we lose. Soon lead will be 5 games unless Sox come back. Lucky we won last night.

We struggle to win any games and Cleveland just keeps rolling.
They win High scoring games and low scoring games..
Tonight it was 3-1 only 7 hits. That pen they have is amazing.

I’m not defending Rogers, just saying that the underperforming is everywhere on the team right now. If Rogers had options, we would possibly be better bringing up Nido, even if Rogers has a better arm.

Detroit was 0-4 with 3 k's with their pinch hitters. AJ is such a bum manager

Minor Leagues
Toledo Mudhens (62-51) (23-15) second half.
Toledo has won 6 in a row. Tonight score was 5-2 over (48-65) Louisville. Baddoo 3 hits., Malloy 2 hits. Every pitcher after the stater had clean innings. Lange and Lee .

AL. Central update.

Tigers………..Lost..….(67-51) -
Guardians..won…..(61-55) 5 back
Royals……….won…...(58-59) 8.5 back
Twins…………won…….(55-61) 11 back
White Sox.Lost……..(42-75) 24.5 back.

It appears we are in really big trouble. The team struggles to get back to back wins verses bad teams. We are not pitching good from starters to relief pitchers.

Not sure who has tougher next four series . We can’t really beat anyone, and Cleveland cant seem to lose any team.

Tigers head to the white Sox and four at Minnesota before heading home to face Houston then KC.

Cleveland goes back home to face
Miami and Atlanta before heading on the road to face the diamondbacks., and the Texas.

Cleveland is 17-22 in inter-league games but they just took three at the Mets.

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

For a week now, both Scott Harris and A. J. Hinch have been trying to tame the flames of criticism over the recent trade deadline. The Tigers acquired 7 pitchers but none of them considered to really be difference-makers.
They played their moves very safely, giving up few farm prospects.
Meanwhile this team is having issues both with offense, starting pitching and esp. relief pitching. Their lead over the Guardians has dwindled now to 6 games (through Friday’s games), down from 15.5.
It has yet to be seen if the Tigers can turn things around or if they are now playing at the expected level.
Harris refuted the idea that there is a window of contention. He said that it is an “illusion” and the team believes that they can be contenders on a regular basis. In support of this idea, the organization is now showing the first signs of being able to produce a pipeline of talent going forward.
But what is the Tigers’ PoBO really trying to say? Is he being straight-forward with fans? Is he trying to temper expectations?
Or is he really thinking that this isn’t the Tigers year to go deep into the playoffs which is why the Tigers didn’t make any major moves at the deadline?
How did you interpret his comments?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!
For this one blog only, you’ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts. Of course, you can also respond to other readers.
TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.
Ready?

How do you interpret Scott Harris' comments and moves at the trade deadline?

1. He's tempering fans' expectations.

2. He's telling us how the team will be built from now on.

3. He doesn't believe the Tigers are currently built to go deep in the playoffs this year.

Btw I was wrong.

I went back and looked Adells homer was on a 2-2 count apparently. Im was sure I saw 1-2 on tv but According to ESPN it was a 2-2 count pitch. And it was a three run Homer.
Wards homer was 0-2 then 1-2 then a foul. Then a homer when game was tied 4-4. Sorry to be wrong. Im just pissed. Not sure how the Tigers get out of this mess.
