I know Mich Rapp hates the Dodgers, but assuming the Tigers can right the ship and get into the postseason, it will be better for the Tigers if the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays for postseason seedings.

Spend real $$ on a leverage reliever that throws 100 with swing and miss, and build a better bullpen. Are they going to pay Torres or bring up McGonigle to play 2nd base.
Troy Melton is one of the biggest breakout pitching prospects of the year. Across 75.1 innings between Double-A and Triple-A, he posted a 2.99 ERA while striking out 32.4% of batters and walking just 6.4%.

Kerry Carpenter has walked 8 times all season in 311 plate appearances.
In 2024 he BB 22X in 296 PA.

By trading for a bunch of bargain basement relievers when he had a troubled pen with few options left, he pretty much guaranteed that Hanifee would need to be sent down in order to try out the new guys that they rolled the dice on, and in that process they will probably make the pen weaker for a while.
