Thanks . I thought so. Just wasn’t sure.We weren't great at risp in the first half, either. The pitching was just better.

Well, I guess that is one way to get JHen up. I doubt that Jones has options. He hit the bag hard and was limping down the line after hitting bag with his heel.

Because Sweeney plays SS and Malloy is a defensive liability in the OFMalloy 4 for 5 with three doubles tonight for Toledo .
Why is he there and Sweeney here ?
Still not impressed. Since the trade deadline, the Tigers pitching staff has an era of 5.06. Finnegan has been good, but the rest of the additions haven't done much to impress. Morton, 6.10 ERA. Paddack in 2 starts, 4.66. Montero 8.31. Heuer 5.40.WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.![]()

Totally Tigers
It’s now been almost 2 weeks since the July trade deadline. The Tigers acquired a variety of pitchers who can start games, man the middle innings and close out contests. In all, there were 7 with most of them now in Detroit and others retooling in the minors or being stocked for depth.
Three of them have now pitched more than a couple innings. They are:
1. CHARLIE MORTON – 1 bad outing, 1 good outing
2. CHRIS PADDACK – His ERA had gone from 4.95 to 3.45. His WHIP of 1.279 is now .830 in Detroit.
3. KYLE FINNEGAN – In 4 games, his ERA stands at 0.00 with a .231 WHIP. His strikeout rate has gone from 19.6% to 42.9% (albeit a smaller sample size).
Of note is how the Tigers have immediately tweaked Finnegan’s pitches. They made his splitter, not the fastball, his primary – and best – pitch. His swing and miss pitches have significantly increased.
Bullpens are noticeably better when swing-and-miss pitches are used. Finnegan is getting swing-and-miss strikeouts for every 1+ batter per inning.
The Tigers have stated that they are also working with Paddack on increasing his swing-and-miss strikes.
The Tigers have received some criticism for not acquiring more high-profile pitchers. But Scott Harris, A. J. Hinch and Chris Fetter have stated that they were looking for pitchers who were not being utilized properly and then unlocking their potential once acquired.
It’s a small sample size so far, but what are your thoughts about what we’re seeing so far with the new pitching acquisitions?
Two weeks later, how are you feeling about the new pitchers acquired?
1. The acquisitions appear better than I initially thought.
2. Possibly better but I'm still holding my breath.
3. Still not impressed.

So is Jones. He can’t field a lick, and he can’t hit. They have Baez and McKinstry that can play short. Heck replace,Malloy for Jones you will get much better at bats. His obp was .339 when he was sent done.Because Sweeney plays SS and Malloy is a defensive liability in the OF
The Tigers have a bunch of guys that can play the corner OF positions well, but very few can play SS. McKinstry is below average at SS. I agree that Sweeney isn't hitting, but at least he can play SS. As far as Malloy, he did have a decent OBP, but his SLG was only .281 and BA only .208. He may be one of those AAAA players. He rakes in AAA but can't hit ML pitching??So is Jones. He can’t field a lick, and he can’t hit. They have Baez and McKinstry that can play short. Still good enough for 6th on the team.
He should been called up over Sweeney . I just disagree with you.
Jones cant hit righty’s at all .Verses LHP he is .235/.316/.500. Malloy deserved another shot before Sweeney. But he should replace
Jones.
He can hit better than Sweeney. We won’t know if he can hit again till we at least give him another shot. He is better then Jones. Time to give him another shot. again, those are his AAA stats. Sweeney raked in Toledo too...actually, even better than Malloy, albeit a smaller sample size.He can hit better than Sweeney.
