Game #124: Detroit Tigers @ Minnesota Twins , Friday August 15th, 2025, 8:10 Pm

7 runs and getting zero from carp and riley. Everyone else has chipped in. Good to see

1st 2 batters saw 10 change ups and 1 curve from Kahnle. You just cant throw a change up 90% of the time
He’s going to have to start mixing in more fastballs like he did with hitters 3 and 4 of his inning, some encouraging signs there

Hey Horn
Throw strikes please. No wonder he has a damn 1.44 whip.
He didn’t get the strike call he should have for the k.
He can’t find the damn strike zone since the miss call.
STOP NIBBLING! THROW STRIKES !

SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers’ starting rotation took major hits all year. They lost over half their expected starting pitchers.
Kenta Maeda never made the cut and Alex Cobb has yet to pitch. It is doubtful that he will see much, if any, time this year.
Reese Olson hit the IL 3 times this season. The right should strain he had last year has returned in 2025. He has yet to make it through a season injury-free.
Jackson Jobe had Tommy John surgery and won’t be back on the mound until 2027.
Jack Flaherty has been disappointing and there is a chance he won’t be in the rotation next season.
Charlie Morton and Chris Paddack are free agents after this year.
Keider Montero and Troy Melton are still works in progress.
The only remaining SPs still standing are Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize.
The Tigers will most likely need to rebuild their rotation significantly for the 2026 year. However, it is Skubal’s last year before his agent, Scott Boras, takes him to free agency when he is expected to break the current salary and contract record for starting pitchers. Analysts are estimating a $400 mill – $500 mill payday.
The strategy for keeping Skubal was based upon future playoffs. But if the Tigers have to significantly rebuild their rotation, is this strategy no longer viable?
Should the Tigers keep Skubal for next year knowing that his value will greatly decrease once the season starts?
Should they keep him for the season knowing that they risk getting nothing in return for his departure?
Or should they trade him this winter when his value will be at its highest and they get a boatload of players, even matured top pitching prospects, which will allow them to quickly re-load?
What should Detroit do?

Given the Tigers need to rebuild the starting rotation, should they trade Tarik Skubal this winter?

1. Yes

2. No
