Since last August, the Detroit Tigers have surprised everyone by their performance. They made the 2024 playoffs and since then have been MLB’s best team.
All of this despite having only 1 elite-level player on their roster. Tarik Skubal.
They were baseball’s best team this season for the majority of the year. Now the 2nd best team after the Milwaukee Brewers but not by much.
The Tigers have taken much criticism for not making certain moves to strengthen their roster over the winter and also for what was seen as lackluster trade moves recently. Yet they continue to play great baseball and have resumed winning series on a regular basis.

There are many factors that have contributed to their success.
Scott Harris has made a number of excellent acquisitions, taking into account the physical, mental and personal skills to form an ideal clubhouse chemistry.
A. J. Hinch has gained the trust of every player on the roster with everyone buying in. He has also successfully managed the mental side of every player so they can perform at their optimal levels.
Then there are the coaches. Chris Fetter and Robin Lund have exceptional reputations for how they help pitchers improve. Joey Cora has made this team MLB’s best in taking extra bases. George Lombard has helped coach this team to be defensive plus. And the 3 hitting coaches get shout outs from almost every positional player.
All 3 groups are responsible for this team’s success. But in your opinion, who deserves the lion’s (or tiger’s) share of the credit?

Its all the above but I would say Harris last. But as for Hinch, while he can be frustrating at times he seems to somehow manage to push the right buttons. The BP (knock on all the wood) is stabilizing the last few weeks. Finnegan is pitching at an all star level.

I think it’s been a group effort. Harris has sure changed the whole Tigers operation from to bottom.

Getting good players. The Torres signing has been really key I think….Look at the minor league records of each team overall
