Game #133: Detroit Tigers @ Athletics, Monday August 25th, 2025, 10:05 Pm

This game is over hours ago if just two other hitters do their job.
I doubt that Skubal inning happens if we get over 5 runs. Just my opinion.

Tigers RISP 1-11
(Ibáñez 0-1, McKinstry 0-2, Pérez 1-3, Greene 0-2, Torkelson 0-3)

Going into the game tonight, the Tigers had won eight of their last 10.

After that crap period right before and right right after the All-Star break, the Tigers have been playing pretty well.

So they were probably due to boot one.

It’s baseball.
Hate to waste chances when both the teams chasing you lost.
All three are playing crap teams and we just lost a game in which Skubal had 12 K’s. Now it’s a 2 game losing streak.

Games like this piss me off. We just gave this game away.

How do you lose a damn game when your starter has
12 K’s and 0 BB ?

You’re not wrong, but also after a very disappointing loss, the Tigers don’t lose any ground. They still have an 11 game lead over KC and a 13 game lead over the Gárdos and they still have the biggest divisional lead in major-league baseball.

I’m actually a little surprised this lost stings asmuch as it does, because it seemed like a game our guys had in the bag, but tomorrow is it another game against those assholes in West sac and I get the game. I’m pretty sure on television again.

Tork has been making picks all season. I bet he will say he should have gotten that one in the 7th. Really tough play.
McKinstry two errors were not good. Especially the one I the 7th .

I think the tigers need a first round bye. We Did lose a game on Toronto tonight . Plus we much tougher teams in September.
Frustrating loss.

Jeez, these post game analysts are refusing to address the risp. Edit-AJ addressed it, at least.

they never do it is really strange. AJ did. He mentions the Lob’s
They had 3. We had 9. They took advantage of their chances and we didn’t at all. We could have blown this game wide open for TS with Just better at bats.
Man I hope the top prospects in the minors are studs at the mlb level. I just want less strikeouts and more balls in play. Maybe some higher batting averages. I firmly believe if we get more runs early that 7th inning never happens.

How can you play McKinstry at shortstop in the playoffs ?
If we do make the playoffs.
ZM had 2 errors tonight.

Btw
Have I mentioned west coast games stink.
I will post the game thread early afternoon but have to work 3:30 to midnight. I may miss the lineups.

Hey FanDuel has Skubal with 5 earned runs.
CBS sports also has Skubal with 5 earned runs.
Yahoo also has 5 earned runs.
But espn has Skubal with 1 earned runs.

Guess I’m unsure. I guess McKinstry error doesn’t save him some
Earned runs.

ESPN is correct; so is MLB Network. The only way those 4 runs become earned would be a change by the official scorer changing McKinstry's error to an infield hit, which doesn't make sense.

LOOKING BACK AT THE FUTURE – Part 1.
Totally Tigers

As we go through this last week of summer, let’s look back at what fans were thinking about the Tigers in July. Time has the ability to change perception and our opinions.
I’ve picked 5 of the most interesting polls readers voted in. This time period was a tough one for fans – an extended performance slide and the approaching trade deadline.
Take a look at each poll. Did the fans get each one right? Did you get them right? Looking back, would you have changed your vote on any of these?

It wasn't the hitters...it was McKinstry's defense.
