Game #136: Detroit Tigers @ Kansas City Royals, Friday August 29th, 2025, 8:10 Pm

Yaz’s grandkid saved the game for us swinging 3-0 and smashing into GIDP for us, thank you yaz grandkid

Holy ship we just got a huge break
3-0 count Mike Y swings at a strike but hits it right at Torres. (463)
I would have him take 2 pitches. Same thing happened to vest against the A’s. He gave up soft contact against a shift. Albeit I think a better hit then tonight. Then fell apart and walked guys and we lost in the 10th… They should have scouted lol. Especially with Witt jr coming up. Seems like vest is a total confidence guy. He gets that out and he rolls. First batter does something then it’s much tougher for him.
Finnegan has a better splitter. Idk. I could be off.

Harris . I wish did more at the trade deadline but Finnegan was a great trade.

Nothing better than ending a losing streak.

When the standings are updated to include tonight’s results, Lead will be up to 9 1/2 games.

Not the biggest ever, but it’s still the biggest division lead in MLB.

Why the F am I the only Tiger fan noticing this?

Go get ‘em Tigers. Rahr.

Parker Meadows is currently on his 2nd injury of the year, playing only 38 games for the 2025 season. He was sent down to AAA after struggling to hit .200, when he got injured again.
A timetable for his return is still a big question mark. A current estimate has him returning in app. 2 weeks.
Last year, he put up some decent offensive numbers but his defensive skills were seen as elite with a +5 DRS.

This year, Javier Baez has taken over CF for the most part (Riley Greene has played CF to a lesser degree and Ryan Kreidler was just DFA’d), and has been impressive.
However, when Baez plays the OF, it’s either Trey Sweeney or Zach McKinstry who takes over SS. On Monday night, ZMac made 2 errors at SS that helped facilitate a grand slam.

Meadows is expected to return in September at some point. But will he get up to speed by the playoffs? Should Baez replace him?
If Javy does, the SS position (the strength up the middle) will be weakened with lesser defensive players.

For the 2025 season, here is where the players rank defensively:
Baez +2 DRS overall (+3 DRS in CF)
Meadows -2 DRS
McKinstry +3 DRS (+1 DRS at SS)
Sweeney -5 DRS
How should those 2 positions be filled for October?

How should the Tigers fill their SS and CF positions when Parker Meadows returns?

1. Meadows in CF/Baez at SS.

2. Baez in CF/McKinstry and Sweeney at SS.
