Game #149: Detroit Tigers @ Miami Marlins, Saturday September 13th, 4:10 Pm

Bases loaded no outs they only score 1 run in top of the 11th.
Tork has to read that ball better.

Embarrassing.
Win 1st two games in NY, and now about to be swept by this shit team.. Have to win Sunday now for a 3-3 road trip.

This team is missing a veteran bat that knows the strike zone and let him lead by example. There are too many (young) guys with poor judgement in their at bats that are trying to hit a bomb with every swing instead of going with the pitch.

Harris so handcuffed this team at the trade deadline.

Torres is the only one who has professional at bats.

Cleveland winning another game in which at the moment they are getting out hit. Frustrating.

In three innings lead will be down to 6.5 unless the white Sox can come back.

I wish these announcers would stop saying the division is over.
Do they not remember the 64 Phillies.

64 Phillies wwre up 5.5 with 12 games left. Lost 10 in a row ans that was that. Went 2-10 winning last two games of the season but by then it was too late. St Louis caught them ans won the WS.

Im so glad that its football season and it don't have to watch this team anymore on the weekends.

Yeah, Tiger baseball ain’t been much fun the last number of days.

The odds of being out of the postseason are staggeringly improbable, but until they’re mathematically in they’re not in.

Lead down to 6.5 as the tigers .

Cleveland only 6 hits wins 3-1 over the white Sox.

Harris has some explaining if they choke this away.
Frustrated with our hitters Approach last 3 games.

Given the way they are playing, coupled with the injuries, I think the odds could be quite a bit higher than the mathematical odds. We have 6 games against Cleveland, and three games at Fenway. If the Guardians and Boston stay hot, and we only win one of those games against both (presuming equal success against Atlanta and Minnesota) and Cleveland sweeps its final series against Texas, they will be in, and we will be either a wild card or out. That probably won’t happen, but it might be close.

Rangers and Boston was playing well till recently, and we suck against bad NL teams. We may need the Rangers to help us. Sadly Cleveland has great pitching, and dont seem to need many hits to win games..
We really need to win 2 of the 6 against them to be in decent shape.
More would be better yet.

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

It was the letter that created quite a stir in the media after being published in the Detroit Free Press. A fan complaining about how broadcaster Jason Benetti does too much schtick and humor when he should be more focused on calling the game.
A week later, it’s still causing controversy.
“I’m one of the people that like just the game to be covered. I don’t need comedy hour by Andy Dirks and Jason Benetti. It’s pretty bad when you have to mute the game a lot because they just don’t shut up. Benetti always has to have a smart answer for everything! When you listen to him do a football game or a Washington Nationals baseball game, you don’t hear all that other (stuff). When he does the Tigers game, he goes on and on. I don’t mind a little humor during the game, at times you need it, but Dirks and Benetti are overkill. The Tigers radio broadcasters Dan Dickerson and Dan Petry … what a difference. Why not put Benetti on the radio, and bring Dickerson to TV? Let’s do this for 2026.”

Should baseball be more entertaining in the modern day?
Are Jason Benetti and Andy Dirks overdoing it?
Is there a better broadcast option and pairing?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!
For this one blog only, you’ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts. Of course, you can also respond to other readers.
TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.
Today, we’ve got TWO polls for you. Please make sure to vote in both.
Ready?

How do you feel about Jason Benetti's broadcast style?

1. I like it.

2. He should stick primarily to calling the game.

3. He's fine but Andy Dirks is not a good match as his partner.

VOTE

How would you divide the broadcast duties for the Tigers?

1. Keep Benetti in the tv broadcast booth.

2. Split the tv duties more evenly between Benetti and Dan Dickerson.

3. Move Benetti to the radio and put Dickerson in the tv booth.
