Tigers are 3-8 Verses the NL east with three still left with Atlanta.
Losing records vs Washington (61-87) Pittsburgh(65-84) and Miami (70-79). They are also 3-8 against the teams i just listed.
They also have a losing record against the A’s (69-80)
Not sure if it’s lack of focus or just poor starting pitching.

Wash (1-2)
Pitt (2-4)
Marlins (0-2)
A’s (2-4)
========
5-12

Riley Greene has the most HRs (34) in a single season for the Detroit Tigers since Miguel Cabrera in 2016.
To highlight the differences between Greene and Miggy, in 2016, Cabrera had 38 HRs. In that full season, he only struck out 116 times. Riley has already struck out 184 times with 2.5 more weeks to go.

Kyle Finnegan threw 18 pitches in his bullpen session yesterday. All pitches, max effort and felt great. Next step might be a live bullpen, with hitters. He said he feels well ahead of schedule.

Trei Cruz is putting himself on the Detroit Tigers radar w/ his versatility on defense and across the board improvement on offense:
'24 (AA): 260/342/396, 11.1 BB%, 25.5 K%, .135 ISO, 115 wRC+
'25 (AAA): 286/420/470, 19.3 BB%, 23.7 K%, .185 ISO, 144 wRC+

Justin Verlander since trade deadline: 8 starts, 2.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 2 home runs allowed.
Charlie Morton since trade deadline: 8 starts: 5.92 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 6 home runs allowed.
Both have $15 million contracts for 2025.

Keep an eye on this kid.
Kelvis Salcedo is on the mound for the Lakeland Flying Tigers in G1 of the FSL championship series today.
931 MiLB pitchers have at least 60 IP in '25. Kelvis Salcedo's .133 BAA ranks 1st among those 931. His .80 WHIP ranks 2nd. He also ranks 14th in ERA,24th in xFIP, 28th in K-BB%.

Eduardo Valencia homered again last night, his 23rd of 2025. He hit 4 homers in 2024. His improvement from '24 to '25 is remarkable:
'24: 241/313/359, 8.5 BB%, 19.4 K%, .118 ISO, 95 wRC+
'25: 306/379/549, 10.2 BB%, 19.7 K%, .243 ISO, 155 wRC+
Valencia's Prospect Savant page:

Parker Meadows since returning from IL (9/5): 18 PA .467/.556/.867 2 HR 6 R 6 RBI
287 wRC+ 0.5 fWAR Difference maker.

Tigers have 2 runs on 1 f'n hit and the marlin's pitcher came into the game with over a 6.00 era would be tossing a shutout except the Tigers runs were unearned with marlin's errors.

Tigers hitters see only 6 pitches in the 6th.

We have only 1 freaking hit off this stiff.

Tork walks on four pitches by the new reliever. Wenceel takes ball one, then grounds into a double play on the next pitch........ Then Colt walks on six pitches, and Dingler grounds out on the second pitch......

Team has zero plate discipline. Except Torres .

Uriquidy

Not sure I give him a second inning.

Damn it throw strikes

Damn it GT you Can’t always walk. Shoot that ball to RF.
Takes a 3rd strike.

Right on cue Cleveland takes a 3-2 lead in the 7th. Sigh
