Folding like an accordion or a cheap suit.
What this team needs is a veteran bat or two in the lineup, and someone else who will sign better starters than gas can Morton or the other shithook who was a terrible starter and in the bullpen, and not be afraid to sign better quality relievers.

I am trying to remember, but I am sure the'84 tigers let the lead get down to 3 1/2 or 4 games before they turned it on. This team is stuck in 1st or 2nd gear.
Early exit when the playoffs begin imo.

Hey guys, at least we have all our prospects!!!!! It was worth throwing away a season where we had the best record in baseball, right?

I’m not convinced they are even making the playoffs yet, be damn lucky if they even manage to win another game. Team just can’t excerise enough plate discipline, as the pressure continues to build the worse it will get as if it’s not bad enough already.

I’m not convinced either.

Minor League update .
Toledo Mudhens (82-65) (43-29) second half.
Won 10-4 at Iowa for 4th win in a row. I heard on the radio that Jung was pulled before the start of the game ( maybe being called up for Keith’s injury) I just heard it on 97.1 fm out of Detroit while I was driving around. Not sure it is true.
Finnegan and Lange clean innings. Only Sommers was blasted.
Cruz continues to hit but he was in Left field not Ss.
Catcher-first baseman Valencia continues to mash the ball 3 for 4 and batting.310. Anderson 2-4 batting .279.
They must be afraid to try any more young guys this year because of how Malloy and Jung started out back at the Neto of the season.
No one is hitting for the Tigers. We really need some energy

Tigers fading fast sadly.

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers

There’s no need to rehash how poorly the Detroit Tigers have been playing since the All-Star break. Results under .500 and having lost 14 out of the last 21 games (through Thursday).
Both pitching and hitting are down. A number of players who have regressed.
There are 9 games left in the season. They will determine whether the Tigers earn the division title and where they will sit in the playoffs, if they make them.
So how can they turn things around? Some players have to step it up.
But which ones?
That is what we’re asking readers today. Which 5 players, not named Tarik Skubal, are the most important ones who have to step it up the most for these 3 remaining series?
Tell us names only. Extra credit given to those who alphabetize their list to make it easier for readers to compare all the comments.

I can't list just 5 players who have to step it up. This has been an epic team collapse, so the whole team needs to step it up.

The Tigers could actually miss the playoffs after leading the division by 14 games in July.

Could and will if that offense doesn’t stop being so damn over aggressive. Take what the pitcher gives you and stop trying to be a damn hero!

Cleveland wasn’t giving in to them the entire series unless they had to they knew and took advantage of their over aggressiveness.

I think Perez was by far the worst but they were all guilty to one degree or another at key times.

If not for having too much going on tonight and this weekend I’d be very tempted to get down there with a sign to hold up that reads

TAKE YOUR WALKS!

I'm at the point that I really don't care if they make the playoffs or not. Even if they make the playoffs, they aren't going to win many games.
