Hey someone will have to fill the lineups . I have an early Sunday shift.

DIFFICULT DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

It is the best of times….. It is the worst of times……..
Detroit Tiger fans finally had some quality baseball to watch in 2025 after 7+ years of significant suffering. It’s been a great year until lately as we watched injuries take their toll and players starting to regress. There are big concerns over the starting rotation, bullpen and offense.
That 14-game lead has now turned into just 1.5 . And it doesn’t help that the last 3 series are against the Braves, Guardians (again) and Red Sox.
The magic number to clinch has not changed in a week.
Today, we’re foregoing the usual Sunday blog in favor of turning this over to the fans. We understand that you need to express what is on your mind.
So we’re asking that you share your thoughts and feelings about our team as it pertains to the end of the year, their recent performance, a division title and playoff chances. We’re not including any discussions about what should have been done last winter or at the trade deadline.
As always, we encourage back-and-forth conversations with others while maintaining the expanded 6-sentence limit on comments (today only).
Think of this as therapy. Or because it’s Sunday, confession.

Here we go. Mize walks Olson on 4 pitches. Hmm, gameday shows a hit and men on 1st and 3rd, then it shows 2 fly outs to finish the inning.

Mize is behind in far too many counts. Running up the pitch count.

3 singles, all to just the right places. Down 1-0. The Braves are doing exactly what the Tigers seem incapable of doing.

Come on Kerry. 8 balls in 9. pitches, and you swing at a curve well below the zone.

Back to back walks then carpenter and green both hack away at pitches out of the zone. They don’t believe in walks I guess.

Epic failure after epic failure. This one is now over as well. Good news is only 6 more games of this shit then we can just close it all up.

And in the next inning, first two men get on, then McKinstry strikes out, and Baez grounds into a double play on ball 4.

The Tigers must have read my thoughts on Charlie Morton after his last pitched game. 🤣
Tigers roster moves: Charlie Morton has been designated for assignment.
Tanner Rainey selected from Triple-A Toledo.
Morton registered a 7.09 ERA with 23 walks and 47 strikeouts across 39.1 innings in nine starts after the July 31 trade deadline.

Pitchers acquired by Tigers in July:*
Devin Smeltzer (gone)*
Geoff Hartlieb (gone)*
Tanner Rainey*
Luke Jackson (gone)*
Chris Paddack (moved to bullpen)*
Randy Dobnak (at Triple A)*
Codi Heuer (gone)*
Kyle Finnegan*
Rafael Montero*
Paul Sewald*
Charlie Morton (gone)

Tigers pitching plan for the Cleveland series:
Tuesday — Tarik Skubal
Wednesday — Jack Flaherty
Thursday – TBD

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch: "It's hard to explain what's going on.''

It’s really not that hard. You had a big lead at the trade deadline, but clear deficiencies in the lineup, rotation and bullpen, and you only acquired one guy worth a damn.

5 innings of (non)offense. We have had 9 base runners, and nada. I really think this team is just not engaged mentally. I think what seems like a total lack of teaching of pitch recognition or pattern is coming to fruition. It was sad seeing Tork swing again at the same curve that he struck out on the previous at bat.

Management still seems to view this as a build up year, while ignoring any chances of turning it into something better than that.

Spencer Torkelson leads off a lot of innings. It was why I’ve assumed his RBI total is a tad unremarkable. Turns out (thank you @ChrisBrown0914 ) Torkelson leads the Tigers in leading off an inning at 161. That's also 31st overall in MLB. He’s sixth in MLB with 12 homers leading off. I wonder how many clubs have a 4-hole or 5-hole guy leading the club? It might happen a lot.
Greene is second on the Tigers with 142. Keith has 132.

Ive been bitching about him leading off so many innings a lot this year. Carp and Greene just arent getting on base enough and when they do its usually a homer clearing the bases killing his rbi chances. I wish they would've moved tork to 3rd in front of those 2 a long time ago.

AJ is getting out managed every series this year. He just wasted Javy AND Jung in 1 at bat just to have that worthless Ibanez strike out again.
