Game #158: Detroit Tigers @ Cleveland Guardians, Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, 6:40 Pm

Pinch hitting Ibanez for Sweeney is like taking dead batteries out of a remote and then accidentally putting the dead batteries back in.

Again we have malloy back up and not using him over any of these other stiffs. Just an unserious team

Bet Cleveland completely runs out of gas in their playoff round and gets swept by Houston or Boston.

Tigers K’d 9 more times tonight

Btw all the prize prospects didn't have a good night with the title on the line at Erie. The Seawolves Struckout 17 times as the Binghamton Ace was an Ace.

The strikeouts seem system wide.

It’s crazy we still hold a wildcard spot.
What a freaking collapse.
Harris has some explaining to do .
That trade deadline he did was really bad.

My guess is hitting instructors heads will role.
Because he isn’t firing himself .
He should !

The way the tigers bring guys up and down like Malloy, Jung has to frustrated these young kids.

Especially Montero if I was representing these guys and other young Tiger prospects I’d ask to be traded. When have we really developed any decent hitters ? I sure hope the young guys we have are really good but I’m worried about it. I think it’s bullcrap what they Have done to Keider Montero. He should have been the 4th or 5th starter since the all star break. Sooner or later you are going to have to make a decision on Jung and Malloy.

Tigers lose 8th straight, fall out of 1st place for first time since April.

Detroit Tigers drop out of first following loss to Guardians.
There’s not a lot of time left to turn things around.

Detroit Tigers continue to crumble in 5-1 loss; Guardians grab 1-game lead in AL Central.

ALL RILE(Y)D UP.
Totally Tigers

Well, that didn’t take long.

As I wrote yesterday, we’re going to be taking a deep dive over the coming weeks as we perform an autopsy on the Detroit Tigers. Once MLB’s best team for months, now one of the worst with a losing streak and stats that rival the Rockies.

I believe we have our first clue.

On Tuesday, I published the dialog from a tv interview with Riley Greene. He was asked about his high number of strikeouts. This year, he’s ranked between #1 and #2 in MLB for strikeouts. He recently broke the team record for strikeouts set by Cecil Fielder several decades ago. He will go down in the history books as having 1 of the highest number of strikeouts in a single season.

This is what he said on Sunday:

“Too be honest, nobody cares about my strikeouts…To be honest, I don’t care…. It is what it is and we can’t change it now.”

that quote about the strikeouts is just like so many quotes in the media today. Taken out of context, and not the entire quote. The interviewer just asked him about him breaking the Tigers strikeout record. His full response did include that he wants to get better.
