Kevin McGonigle's three balls in play last night against Brayan Bello:
108.8 -- single
101.8 -- F-8
100.3 -- single, RBI

McGonigle has also reached base in 17 straight starts, the longest streak in the American League right now. It's the fourth-longest in baseball...He's also got a 1.3 WAR already, which is ridiculous.

Spencer is 6 for 63 with the bases loaded. Perez I batting .045 :/
Hopefully they both break out .

40 pitches for Valdez, combination of the sox batters and him pitching in raw weather with rain and drizzle here.

Tigers need to just start leaving Kieth and carp in vs LHP they can’t possibly put up any numbers worse than jones and perez

I so agree. It's time to replace Perez and Jones. I'm worried Lee is in way over his head. Hope I'm wrong on all three..

I thought for sure Spencer would break out at fenway.

AJ being AJ. For 3 years the idiot thought playing Andy Ibanez just because he was right handed was the play. He gets too hyper focused on righty/lefty shit. Carp and Colt both handled left handers just fine all through the minors. Now hes stunting them developing just to play at best average spilt guys. Ive never understood it

after 40 pitches the first 2 innings, Valdez settles in nicely with 45 more the next 3 innings. Tigers bats go Boom against crochet with home runs from Jones and Dingler. Tigers up 5 to 1. Valdez should at least start the 6th inning, and pray for the bullpen to hold it.

crochet out, and his era is up to 7.88 I can hear the groans from Fenway park 25 miles away.

Valdez has 4 starts that he didnt give up more than 1 run

Skubal has 4 starts as well of no more than 1 run.

Mize has 3 such starts

That series in Minnesota, Valdez gave up 8, Skubal 4 and Mize 5.

Thats 11 starts between them of giving up 1 run or less and those 3 clunkers in Minnesota.

Is it a matchup thing or is Minnesota doing shady shit at home again?

I thought they were doing shady shit, and after the red sox got blown out up there, it sure does look like some shady shit. Let's see how they do in Comerica and fenway.

It is as good beating the sox as it is beating the AL Central teams for me.

In about 15 hours, after they meet for the post game media, unwind and rest, eat sleep and be ready for BP and pregame tomorrow on Marathon Monday for the 11:00 am start. Bullpen might be short of the dependable relievers after the last two games.
I have been to a couple of those Marathon Monday games years ago, and froze my ass off in the raw cold April weather here.

Why is the game at 11am tomorrow?

Oh nevermind, marathon Monday means Boston marathon tomorrow.

There isn't a thread up for Today's morning game (I'm heading for a doctor's appointment in a couple minutes, so I can't assist on this), but given the way the second inning is shaping up, it might not be worth the effort. Flaherty is having one of his meltdowns. Perhaps he will get out of it with only one run; the bases are loaded with two outs right now. Edit- nope, he issued his third walk; the last two balls weren't even close.

That was one hundred percent on Flaherty; three walks, and a throwing error....uttering "that was bulls**t" as he walks away. Yes, your contribution was.
