Thats bs! that was ball 4 to tork.
that would have loaded the bases for mcgonigle.

They need to have someone whos sole job is to tell the batter to challenge or not.

Part of the rule is that there isn't to be anyone actually doing that.

Jack falling apart as usual when things go south. Need to try an keep it at 1.

The guys with known good eyes at the plate should be encouraged to challenge more that first inning was killer, loaded with the team leader in hits thus far would have been a huge opportunity to set the tone early but nope nobody wants to use the ABS for some reason.

Yeah, I was yelling at the TV, "Challenge!!". Tork was casually taking of his shin guard like he thought it was ball 4.

I agree, bases loaded with McGonigle coming up is what you want, first inning or 9th inning.

Minor League scores update
Triple AAA Toledo Mudhens.
Toledo is 0-2 losing on the road at Leigh Valley by a 5-2 and 1-0 score.
Some really good pitching from both clubs.
Not much hitting. Max is 0-6 or 7 with 4 walks., 2 steals

Even the Tigers official site called Torkelson out for not challenging the strike call on a ball.

Torkelson's early non-challenge proves costly in Tigers loss.
Tigers official site

padres 3 - Tigers 0. Wide strike zone? but Flaherty with 4 walks.
Boxscore.

Padres 3 - Tigers 0: Sweepless in San Diego.
The Tigers had a rough go at the plate in this one.

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

Back in 2023, Scott Harris’ first year with the team, they drafted Max Clark (#3) instead of Wyatt Langford (#4).
In less than a year, Langford was promoted to the major league level. He’s a LFer and hits RH. Check his stats here:
Wyatt Langford Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Rookie Status & More | Baseball-Reference.com

The Tigers’ strategy to draft Clark over Langford also involved Kevin McGonigle. If they had drafted Langford, they wouldn’t have had enough money to draft McGonigle.
The Tigers ended up getting a CFer and a 3B/SS. Two positions that have been weak points for years.
What do you think about the Tigers’2023 drafting strategy?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!

TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.
Ready?

What do you think about the Tigers' 2023 draft strategy?

1. Very smart move.

2. Jury is still out.

3. Should have selected Langford.

the problem is that they could have drafted both. KC posted an article about it in the off season thread a few weeks ago. The article did say that they would have had to sacrifice some of the over slot signings in rounds 3-10.
