Game #3 - Detroit Tigers @ San Diego Padres, March 28, 2026 8:40 PM EST

The ABS system only compounds the controversy of whether or not a close pitch is a ball or a strike. And as long as there are limits to the challenges, do the powers that are really want to get every call right? Either get rid of the system, or use it for every call and let the HPU call balks, missed bases, plays at first and third, and fly outs.

I'm for losing it altogether, but if we are going to surrender a portion of decisions to machines, might as well surrender it all.

Looking ahead to next week in Arizona's Urban Heart:

Monday, March 30, 10:10 p.m. ET RHP Justin Verlander vs. RHP Michael Soroka

Tuesday, March 31, 9:40 p.m. ET RHP Casey Mize vs. RHP Brandon Pfaadt

Wednesday, April 1, 3:40 p.m. ET LHP Tarik Skubal (1-0, 0.00) vs. TBD

OPENING DAY OBSERVATIONS.
Totally Tigers

What an interesting Opening Day it was on Thursday. A chance to renew observations and gauge how the team’s temperature has changed.
It’s getting warmer.
Sure, we can go back and review all the plays and the highlights. That’s the easy part.
Wouldn’t you rather see what is going on below the surface? The stuff you don’t see in most cases. Stuff that means something within the bigger picture.
I’ve got a list of the top 10 things I saw during Thursday’s game that are either interesting or speaks to how this team will work this year.
