Due to forecasted precipitation in the area, tonight’s scheduled start time for the Tigers vs. Red Sox series opener at Comerica Park has been adjusted from 6:40 p.m. to 6:10 p.m.

Kevin McGonigle is your March/April AL Rookie of the Month! McGonigle had a 2.0 bWAR through April, tied for best in the majors in that time.
Kevin McGonigle: .328 AVG, .935 OPS, 15 XBH, 13 RBI.

Kevin McGonigle wins AL Rookie of the Month.
Who else could it be?
BYBTB

Kevin McGonigle is the seventh Tiger to win an AL Rookie of the Month Award, joining...
Colt Keith (July 2024)
Eric Haase (July 2021)
Brennan Boesch (May & June 2010)
Austin Jackson (April 2010)
Rick Porcello (May 2009)
Justin Verlander (May 2006)

Kevin McGonigle is 11-for-24 (.458) w/ RISP so far in his MLB career. 5 BB, only one strikeout.
Kevin’s .435 BA with RISP was 8th. After the last 2 PA, it would be .480 and leading the league. Not sure to what, but his 212 wRC+ is probably going to go a bit higher as well.

Fun with small sample sizes — Spencer Torkelson over his last 11 games played:
.293/.370/.8056 HR (best in MLB)
8 R
8 RBI
10.9 BB%
26.1 K%
213 wRC+
0.6 fWAR
His 122 wRC+ over the first 132 PA this season is his career best.

Detroit Tigers lead the MLB in outs hit 350+ ft (57) and 380+ ft (19).

Riley Greene could be in for a career year in 2026. Through 141 PA:
.292 AVG
.397 OBP
.396 xwOBA
14.2 BB%
26.2 K%
143 wRC+
All career best marks so far.

Skubal out after having elbow surgery to remove loose bodies in his throwing arm. Shocker

Skubal just went on the injured list, and will have surgery for loose bodies in his pitching elbow.

Mize
Olson
Jobe
Melton
Skubal

That’s a pretty good 5 man rotation all baked we sure do blow out arms shoulders and elbows maybe someone needs to look at the condition program?

Loose bodies in the elbow refer to small fragments of bone or cartilage that float within the elbow joint, which can cause pain, stiffness, and a sensation of catching or locking during movement. These fragments may arise from injuries or degenerative conditions affecting the joint..

What's taking the old man Verlander so long to get back.

The fact that Verlander is an old man (in baseball terms) is probably exactly what is taking him so long.

This season is Fk'ed.

Tarik Skubal to have surgery for loose bodies in elbow; timetable TBD.
Tigers official site

Tarik Skubal headed to the injured list for an elbow procedure.
It’s not Tommy John surgery, but it sounds like Skubal will need a scope to clear bone chips from his left elbow.

Tarik Skubal To Undergo Surgery To Remove Loose Bodies From Elbow.
MLBTR

Tigers reporting makes stunning reversal on Tarik Skubal as fan panic sets in.
So "precautionary" was a straight-up lie?

Tigers make official roster move in response to Tarik Skubal injury.
Ty Madden called up.
Not the circumstances the Tigers wanted to see.

Detroit Tigers ELITE Rotation & Bullpen:
Tarik Skubal
Casey Mize
Reese Olson
Jackson Jobe
Troy Melton
Justin Verlander
Will Vest
Kenley Jansen
Beau Brieske
Connor Seabold
Bailey Horn
Oh wait... that's the injury report.

Even if he comes back in 2 months you cant count on him to give you much. Even fully healthy he's only a 6 and change inning starter. My guess is he makes a couple starts late to show other teams hes healthy for next year.

He lost me last year in the playoffs.

Sadly he is one of the better Toledo relief pitchers. In big trouble.

Why is DeJesus up with the club ?

He does that every time. Gets ahead 0-2.
Throws a shit pitch . Cost tigers a run.
