GAME 38 - Detroit Tigers vs. Boston Red Sox, May 6, 2026, 640 PM

THOUGHTFUL THURSDAY.
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers lost yet another starting pitcher to the IL. Tarik Skubal.
Here is the complete list of all the starters on the IL and their tentative return dates:
Jackson Jobe – August
Troy Melton – late May
Casey Mize – May
Reese Olson – 2027
Tarik Skubal – August
Justin Verlander – mid-May
Currently, the starting rotation consists of Jack Flaherty, Keider Montero, Framber Valdez and pitching chaos.
Given the news about Tarik Skubal needing surgery, how big is your concern about the team’s rotation and their ability to play well this season?

How big is your concern about the team's rotation and their ability to play well this season?

1. Confident that it will work out.

2. Crossing my fingers.

3. Very worried.

4. I don't see a positive outcome.

Tarik Skubal Has Elbow Cleanup Surgery, Eyes Two-Month Return.
The Detroit Tigers' star lefty, fresh off back-to-back AL Cy Young wins, underwent arthroscopic surgery Wednesday to remove irritating loose bodies from his pitching elbow. Performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the minimally invasive procedure typically allows pitchers like Skubal—a 2.70 ERA leader this season—to recover in about two months. The Tigers, sitting around .500 in the AL Central, recalled Ty Madden to fill his spot while manager A.J. Hinch leans on the team's depth amid trade deadline talk.

Lost 11-4. Max clark went 0-4. Average down do .268.
Pitchers all sucked except last one. Workman get a couple of hits.
He is batting .344. Maybe give him a shot over some of the stiff in Detroit. I know he failed with the cubs. Maybe 2nd time .

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers

The injury requiring surgery for Tarik Skubal has thrown this year’s plans and strategies for both sides into the unknown. Tarik’s free agency plans and the Tigers goals for this year need major re-writes.
What could change? I’ve got my top 5 list of significant changes that we may see this year.

I don't think there is a chance in hell that Skubal signs a one year "pillow contract". Someone will give him $300M

The AL central is so bad that the Tigers should still be in the hunt by the trade deadline

Im not so sure we will still be in it at the deadline. We just cant hit.
We have at least four or five empty holes.
Perez , Jung, jones, Rogers, McKinstry, Lee.
Hopefully some of these guys will find thier swing.

All of those guys are just bench guys, with the exception of McKinstry. Right now, the pitching worries me more than the hitters

Detroit sends runners home ~72% of the time in competitive situations, one of the most aggressive rates in MLB. Despite leading MLB in runners thrown out (54), Detroit still finished +8.3 runs above average in baserunning value (2nd in MLB).

I still can’t figure out why Zack short was brought back at all. What a waste of time and money. But it’s not my money at least

Bob … I’m at a golf tournament. Will
