Embarrassing this organization still is trotting out Short and Perez when the organization has better options at Toledo.

Kevin McGonigle is the first player in Tigers history with at least 45 hits and 24 walks in his first 40 big league games. He is only the second Tiger in franchise history, age 21-years-old or younger, to tally 45 hits in his first 40 major league games, joining Travis Fryman who had 47 hits in his first 40 major league games in 1990.

Casey Mize is eligible to come off the IL this Friday and won’t need a rehab start.

The Tigers currently have the most players on the IL (15) of any team in baseball.
Yes, they’re struggling to score runs, win games, etc but a lot can be attributed to the overall health of this team. Stick around .500 and then better days ahead as players come back.
We hope.

In 2024, Jack Flaherty had 19 walks in 106.2 innings with the Tigers.
In 2026, Flaherty has 29 walks in 36 innings.

Some good and some bad in Troy Melton’s rehab outing for Toledo today. He induced 10 whiffs and touched 98.7 MPH with his fastball over 2 scoreless innings. But he struggled with his command and had to throw 54 pitches. You can see them all in the link.

Tarik Skubal’s surgeon explains the NanoNeedle and what comes next for Tigers’ ace.
The Athletic

Spencer Torkelson defensively
#31/35-4 DRS
-3 OAA
-2 FRV
It's concerning. It's year 5 and he can't hit or play defense.

Some OF defensive numbers min 150 innings played
Riley Greene #21/24 -2 DRS/-2OAA/-3FRV
Matt Vierling #12/30 -3 DRS/+2 OAA/+1 FRV
Wenceel Perez #33/36 -3 DRS/-3 OAA/-3 FRV

Tigers OF as a team rank
30/30 in outfield defense
-15 DRS
-9 OAA
-15 FRV

For those of you who are curious Kevin McBarrel defensively:
SS 210 innings +1 DRS -3 OAA -1 FRV
3B 127 innings+1 DRS -2 OAA -1 FRV
basically league average. there is room for improvement playable and solid at both positions.

Tigers are allergic to add on runs. Maybe next inning.

Can McKinstry field or throw ? His range seems really bad.

This offense is painful to watch I think I sigh about every 30 seconds on ave watching it

They messed with Kieth’s timing mechanics and hand positioning . He gets more hits and hits the ball hard but doesn’t hit any HR’s anymore. Meh

5-9 parade of sub par bats is a big problem

Verling .202 woefully inadequate
Perez .169 no business still being here
Tork .204 not going to cut it
McKinstry .183 not going to work
Short .000 maybe the most puzzling head scratcher transaction I’ve seen in years, why did they acquire this guy again? Makes no sense to me at all.

This isn’t a 5-9 in a lineup that’s going to win many games.

Are you kidding me? Edit; I meant to circle Vierling too.

The 4 decent bats 1-4

Kevin massively impressive
Dingler taking a step forward
Keith singles mans no HR’s anymore, probably not ideal at the 3 spot
Green having a decent year but would like to see more HR’s the smaller strike zone has probably helped him more than anyone in the league as he can lay off the high stuff more now knowing it’s a ball this year.

Is it just me or does it feel like the Mets are winning right now even though the scoreboard says 2-1 tigers
