Needed just 53 pitches to go 5 1/3 innings. Struck out five and allowed a solo shot in the first but no other hits and no walks. Would guess 1-2 more starts and he'll be ready to go.
The Tigers plan to select the contract of right-handed reliever Dylan Smith before Friday's game in Kansas City. Smith, who made his Triple-A debut just a few days ago, would be making his MLB debut if he gets into a game.
Dylan Smith is now a reliever and that seems to be his path to the major leagues as he continues to move up.
